If this (unlikely) track verified it would be the strongest hurricane for New England since Hurricane Carol in 1954 (71 years ago)
True. Everything has to align perfectly for this to verify. I live in RI and Hurricane Bob was the last storm I remember. During Sandy I was living in SC so missed that. Other than an occasional snow storm weather here is pretty mundane

So RI and SE MA this is likely mostly a rainstorm, correct? Not much reason to follow it anymore?
Pretty much a rainstorm. Unless you’re in NW RI I think we don’t flip over to snow until Tuesday later in the day. Then it’s probably a couple of inches of paste.

Game over here. Good luck to those getting snow
Yeah didn’t think we had much of a chance here in the coastal plain. It’s been fun to track but in the end a little disappointing.

That would suck for us in RI

My dear Mom passed away relatively suddenly from colorectal cancer at the end of last February. Devastated the family, f’d me up pretty good too. Trying to pick up the pieces and feel good again. This place provides that for sure. Good to be back.
I’m so sorry. Lost my Mom recently so this forum is at least a distraction even though I mostly lurk because I’m not as knowledgeable as most on here.

I remember Don from the Eastern Wx days. He’s amazing with his forecasting skills.

There should be an Emmy category for most entertaining Weather Forum. And to think I was going take a break from the thread after the mentally anguished blizzard thread. ROTHFLMAO

Last storm thread fried my brain after following for a week. Taking a break from the insanity which I normally live for.

Getting crushed in East Greenwich RI. Had the dreaded snow hole for awhile earlier but snowing is ripping right now.

Vineyard total whiteout, 5”+ overnight, now fatter flakes flying sideways, wind gusts roaring down the chimney … 6 & 8 year olds in jammies with their faces pressed to the window … gorgeous
It’s so magical for the kids(and us too!) I remember huge snowstorms as a young kid and it started my fascination with all kinds of weather. Enjoy making the memories!

Reality check: Its snowing. Its windy. Its gonna snow most of the daytime.
My wife upstairs bedridden by COVID. Perspective on the storm is important. This is for fun, not something serious. I hope everyone enjoys the weather, the beauty outside, and feels like a kid again because for me, the chase for a storm is really a chase to re-live waking up on a snow day with a wonderland outside.
I hope and pray your wife recovers soon.

I’ve been a lurker since the Eastern Wx days. Don’t feel competent enough in my knowledge to debate weather but I learn something every day in this forum. This particular thread nearly psychologically damaged me with all the ups and downs Lol. Thanks to all of you who contribute so much knowledge and entertainment.

Are there any other models that NWS uses that we don’t have access to? Trying figure out why they are still gung ho with the forecast when recent model trends are looking bad.
-
I wonder if NWS in Boston will do an adjustment on the snow totals map.
-
I can’t buy this solution yet. Crazy last minutes changes. Yikes!

Yet NWS just upped totals over their forecast area.
It is contrary to what you read here with some of the posts being so negative about the recent models. The NWS doesn’t seem at all concerned and upped the totals

The fun part is this storm will have small surprises right to the end. This winter has been so bad I'm content with any decent snowfall at this point, jackpots are of no concern.
Good post. Remember a few weeks ago when we were happy with possibly getting 3 or 4 inches of snow? Just something to make it look like winter? We’re getting that tomorrow plus some. I’m just grateful for that.

Hurricane Erin
in Tropical Headquarters

Thankfully we can enjoy the absolute magnificence of Erin with no land masses affected. This would have been catastrophic if it hit land.
