Westernport Elementary in Cumberland MD is currently flooding. Scanner says they're evacuating the kids and the water is up to the windows.

My camera in downtown Bethesda shows rain. (Left the Hill earlier this year after 30 years.) But here in Wyoming it's 5 degrees and snowing lightly.

I'm far away but am so excited that so many folks should be cashing in, and will be reading right along with everyone. And at least I have snow on the ground here.

It may seem like way far away and not related, but I'm piling up snow here in very north-central Wyoming and seeing hints that it will hang around longer here in a way that would happen if the energy winding up in the central plains were a little more north compared to some models.

I'm supposed to get a good accumulation from it just as it's getting started, in Wyoming. Everyone's in!Can’t wait to see all the winter products go up across the country. Light it up like a Christmas tree. -
Thanks. Couldn't tell how heavy the snow in PA would be. I am not afraid of driving in snow, except for the other idiots on the road.NYD looks fine - maybe some snow TV in the PA/OH part of the journey? Won’t pretend I can look at a map of Wyoming and predict mountain snow but the drive mostly looks chilly with some snow showers plausible
As for Wyoming, forecasts are a crapshoot, even the day of. In that report that came out a little while back about the places where forecasts were the least accurate, Sheridan County WY was right up there. A lot of microclimates.
Part of me is trying to decide whether to wait a week and be here for the 7th-10th, but that would be the kiss of death for it. -
Anyone want to opine on the forecast for New Year's Day if one were to be driving west along I-70 to the PA turnpike and then to Ohio and beyond? I'm trying to get myself back to Wyoming for some winter, and would love to be able to leave on the 1st. (Thoughts about the forecast on the 4th along I-90 in western South Dakota and across Wyoming appreciated too.)
I can do it in three days, but given the short daylight hours (even with crossing time zones) four would be a little easier, but it's tough to get four precip-free or -light days. -
I have a cousin who had a home completely destroyed by Otis in Acapulco, so he decided to relocate--to Sarasota.

I grew up on Western Avenue, near the park. (That's where my avatar photo was taken.) I feel your pain.lol it falls apart again as it nears Western Ave. Someone explain it to me. -
Then you came right through my area, just south of the Montana border near I-90.Beautiful country , spent the night in Newcastle after leaving Mt Rushmore on our 5495 mile circle drive around the country 3 years ago in April.... Wanted to visit Cheyenne but didn't make it - went nw through Montana instead...
(Sorry, back to obs)

That's usually how it works. Though once you get into July, it's more whether it's going to be 75 or 95.I'm headed there in 3 weeks. Watch it be intense heat out west then and cooling off in the east.
And of course, it's a dry heat. But as soon as the sun goes down, it cools off. Neither of which describe DC in the summer! (And both of which are why I'm no longer in DC in the summer!)

As someone who once lived on the actual border between Chevy Chase MD and Chevy Chase DC, I'm pretty sure the Maryland side always got more.I’m really impressed that the winter storm can discern between Chevy Chase MD and Chevy Chase DC in terms of snow amounts. -
Allow me to show you my home in northern Wyoming.we don't live in alaska i don't know why anyone would expect or even want 8 weeks of wall to wall wintry conditions-

Just would like to thank @stormtrackerfor his wish of doom and destruction and helicoptering surgeons not coming true.
My surgery Tuesday was successful and I'm now home and recovering. But what's the deal with this 80 degree crap?

Just woke up on Capitol Hill, streets and sidewalks are covered. Even my nuclear sidewalk. Looks gorgeous. I can't imagine OPM won't reevaluate.

Pummeled = FOLKSWhat’s the official definition of “pummeled” lol -
I will tell you all that I watched about four feet of snow fall in my little spot in Wyoming last winter, but it just wasn't the same without this group of surly malcontents tracking it every step of the way.

Hah ha, no worries, and thank you. At this point I'd be Just Fine with dining room table surgery.
... though it just occurred to me that since I'm having it done at Georgetown, there's no worries about snow anyway.

Yeah, now that the threat thread is separate... is it shit the blinds for ~10 days after Friday? Can take a mental pause.
Apologies to all, but I am using all available juju to have a warm up so that there is no chance of snow on the 23rd. Surgery I've been waiting for and need desperately is scheduled that day, and I will not have you weenies wishing a storm into existence and messing it up.
