  1. Same process behind climate denialism. I hope you now understand, however I still think 2015's sea ice volume was on par with or slightly less than 2013. PIOMAS is the only dataset supporting your position.

As for HYCOM having flaws, this is neither proven or disproven. At worst it's a convenient rumor being spread around as truth.

Climate denial has nothing to do with the topic we're talking about so i don't know why you keep bringing it up in this conversation.  Your first statement was incorrect in which i wanted to point it out to you.  You made it out as if we are worst off then 2012 which is not true.  Volume is around 2013 I'm not denying that as both Piomas and Cryosat show.  Hycom does have flaws I'm not saying its worthless but they have been talked about many times on here in the past.

  2. AH, your previous post to that one was very hyperbolic  A record lock after 6 hours?  Really?

I think people like you do more harm than good.  And as such, reading your exaggerated posts that have no validity really annoy me and go against the the purpose of this forum (to discus scientific information - not baseless speculation).  I've conceded that the mobs are not going to remove you, but the least you can do is confine this type of posting to the banter thread where I can avoid it.

Your posts add nothing.  If you want to leave data, then please do.  But can you please spare us the sky is falling routine?  At best your preaching to the choir but at worst you're frustrating and annoying the choir.

    Well said.

  3. One could probably argue we are possibly looking at the beginning stages of -AMO regime but we are far from a full out -AMO the numbers speak for them selves.

    2014 -0.042 -0.023 -0.061 -0.074 0.019 0.082 0.242 0.355 0.330 0.312 0.085 0.079
    1975 -0.260 -0.325 -0.296 -0.332 -0.375 -0.282 -0.258 -0.172 -0.323 -0.340 -0.328 -0.308
  4. Lmao at people trying to attack ORH and calling him a denier.  Nobody else besides him and say Skier has contributed more in this forum with scientific and factual information over the years.  It's comical that those who add nothing to the forum and continue to post baseless opinions are the ones that think they have the correct views and would attack someone who actually does provide factual information on all aspects of climate change.

  5. Woah. Was this actually discussed? I'd love to read those posts.

Indeed I don't have the time to dig up the post. If I remember correctly I think it was brought up after the potent storm in early August 2012 ripped through the western CAB. So if you go back in the sea ice thread to around that time you will see it.
  6. It's really not that far fetched, Just look at some of the comments in the sea ice thread after 2012....people saying things like 2009 SIA and volume wouldn't be matched again. We had an 84% increase (3,100 km^3 in absolute numbers) in min volume in just 2 years.

While I wouldn't actually expect 2006 volume to be seen in the next few years, it wouldn't shock me either. If we keep avoiding the nasty dipole pattern that was the signature of 2007-2012, then I would expect volume to slowly increase until we get another poor dipole episode.

Agreed well said.   I still liked the talk of warm core tropical like storm systems in the arctic at the time. :lmao:

  7. Like I said, lower than 2014 is a lock. Every model abruptly collapses the 2m temps to above 0 in two weeks. The breakdown is now deep into the day 5-10 range. Things are cold now but the situation will continue to evolve.

Have we ever seen basin-wide 0-1C 2m temps before June?

I'm glad we have someone that's capable of predicting the weather pattern for the entire melt season so far in advance.  Yes we see it all the time.  I mentioned it once before but i guess you choose to ignore it that the graphics will always show above normal 2m temps even for average weather because of the long term warming that has gone on in the arctic.  They usually use 1981-2010 climo so because the arctic is the warmest decade in observations it will show above average 2m temps on top of the actual weather pattern because of the colder 80's-90's data.

Having 2015 200,000km2 (possibly) out of the pack for SIE will make a difference. No way to beat around the bush here.

  8. The forum is on the front-page too, you'd think climate change would rank high as an important issue. People have this conception that this is a problem for the 2050's and beyond.

The -PDO/La Nina was just a shot in the dark based on ocean temperature trends. HadSST is still coming well over 2014 outside of el nino regions. Sorry but I don't have good reasoning other than that at this point, it's a vague prediction with a wide timescale.

Whatever tipping points that may or may not happen will also affect how natural cycles play out.

Well lets get serious climate change is not on the top of the list for problems for Americans and won't be any time soon as it's not affecting our daily lives in a serious threatening way that is just a fact.  This is why people jump on you if you are going to make statements around here you need to support it with some real factual evidence.  This is what the forum is about.

You guys complain about the same stuff over and over again..  Why not just sit back and appreciate the opinions of others?   That's what forums are for...to discuss / have different opinions on things.

It's people like him that think outside the box, with factual material  (not always, but most of the time) that make things worthwhile reading here.  Who cares if he goes into left field at times...even if it does seem far-fetched , he at-least brings up points that could be looked into.

Typical Republican-like behaviour here...the ones against him.   Where people extremely over-exaggerate the smallest of matters.  I feel like i'm watching Megyn Kelly on FoxNews... where she'll have some news piece to start her show off with.   With that look in her eye like it's the end of the world....all while talking about Hillary Clinton's funding issues.  (or some other comical news piece...that would of been laughed at if it were mentioned as 'Breaking News' 10 years ago)

There is a difference of having a factual opinion and that of just baseless nonsense that isn't supported by scientific literature or factual information.  Perfect example you just stated ORH is in ''another world'' in the sea ice thread after he posted ''there's been solid gains on last year over the past month'' while posting a graphic image that supports his statement.  Now where is your evidence that he is wrong and in another world i won't hold my breath.

  9. How can you be so confident? I would really like to know in great detail. My problem is that I am not brainwashed enough. I am just a rabid human in pure form, outside the confines of society looking at the situation objectively.

True story. I wish I could sleep at night again. At least I have the balls to admit it. Will you not accept that some people deny global warming for non-scientific reasons? If you can't then you are off-base and have no right lecturing me.

Well i need to understand what you mean, what am i so confident in?  No doubt there are people like that I'm not going to deny that but you basically fall in that same category on the opposite spectrum of the debate.  Two days ago you stated we will never see a -PDO again or a la Nina where is the science in that statement, you didn't even post any literature to support that absurd claim.

In my mind, making stuff up and thinking the situation is similar to 2014 in the Arctic is the same as denying climate change. I am not messing around anymore. Sandy is burned into my brain forever.

Deep down I know it's too late to save coastal cities in the long-run but I want people to feel responsible because justice must come. Nature will settle the scales for us.

The immense inertia involved has led many into disarray. Nobody else has spoken out especially locally, so I have to pick up their slack and give everyone a push.

:lmao:   I'm getting the feeling you are mistakenly taking this forum as an activist lair and not the ''Science" forum that it is.

  10. You might just scare me off with your bad posting if you're lucky. It's still better than 2-3 years ago where people were being banned left and right.

If I wanted disinformation I would go read Drudge.

No need just continue with your rhetoric it'll be a matter of time before you get the boot.  It's kind of sad that you are so brainwashed to not understand how out of touch you are around here.  I've never seen someone make up so much garbage baseless statements that have constantly needed to be corrected yet think they're so correct and factual.

  11. I don't see how this can happen anytime soon.  The PDO was strongly negative no more than 2 years ago...

Just his usual disinformation.  You must have missed the memo that the earth hit a tipping point no more natural variability and now everything we know including observational data can now be thrown out we are doomed.  How are we suppose to reason with someone like this.

  12. It's screaming at you but you guys won't accept that things are different now. Mabye at 20+ months you will understand.

What's screaming at me?  The fact that the Earth this past decade has been the warmest in instrumental observations, at which we now have an El Nino gaining steam which will cause us to break a new global record gee who would of thought.

  13. Choosing to ignore my posts won't change reality. Some of you are in for a rude awkening.

You pretty much answered your own hypothesis there ORH. Gulf Stream has moved north and it's trajectory has changed, hint hint AMOC shutdown.

I have no reason to be alarmist other than to save my own future. Doesn't get more egotistical and truthful than that.

Yea i choose to ignore and not take you seriously when you continue to post disinformation.

Oh...ok...so most are in agreement that he posts for entertainment purposes only....Got it!

Yea I'm starting to lean towards straight trolling.
