Based on no science at all, I expect cold and dry once the rain finishes later this week.

portable generator, does it need to be covered when outside?
In a light rain, it's probably OK. They are air cooled, so any cover needs to allow air in.

What's the timing of the FROPA in CT?

Nothing going on for 2 weeks.
Probably not. But then again, not all storms show up correctly on models two weeks out, with the exception of cutters a day or two before Xmas.

He can work at BW and sleep in my barn. I have a room up there on the second floor.
Barn is good. Will toughen him up. What's BW?

PF or anyone with experience in the ski world...
My 18 yo son has decided that after his first semester of college that it's not for him. He's dreaming of heading out west to find a job at a ski area. I'm not excited, but I get it. Is there a NNE resort that would be a good place for a young kid to try this?

Eastern CT has a ton of power outages and road closures. There was/is a ton of rain outside NYC. Henri did some decent damage for TS, just not as widespread as predicted. Or I'm just a weenie. Could be both.

Bigelow brook ,Still river?
Just saw Mt Hope river is around 10.7', and 7' is flood stage. Higher than 1955, and highest since 1938.

Mt. Hope river runs along 89 just north of 44. Schoolhouse Hill is just a few miles from me. Never seen anything like that, even in 2006. Crazy stuff.

Not good at all! Hope this misses NE CT or there will be some major Hydro concerns
There are a few roads closed including 44 near 74 in Ashford and 197 along with some side roads in Eastford. Looking not good if we get another inch or so overnight.

Yup. Just cracked 4" since midnight and closing in on 10" since July 1...about 20 miles from Tolland as the crow flies.

BOX not impressed with NW areas I see.
Is it just me, or does anyone else expect the heavy snow to trend NW?

Definite snowhole IMBY with this storm. Slantstick gives me 6' in most parts of my yard.. Deepest drift is maybe 8" - maybe. Much higher reports all around me. I don't question any reports, I think I just got micro dryslotted if I'm allowed to make up new terms.

I could definitely see a scenario where I am -10 and it’s snowing hard in SNE and NYC.
I'd be surprised with this system this early, and with the current airmass. It's anecdotal, but when these things are wobbling for a few inches in interior SNE, areas further west and north tend to do much better. If you're just being negative in hopes that you'll get a good dump, then carry on.

It's surprising how many people who are not teachers nor directly involved in education know so much about how teachers feel about in-person vs. remote teaching. It's also interesting how much people who have never really been involved with teachers' unions know about their activities.
