High of 95 on my station today. I had to water the garden twice.
I hear folks mentioning that this reminds them of summers past while growing up. Growing up north of Pittsburgh in the 60’s -70’s timeframe we didn’t have A/C until I went off to college. We somehow managed sleeping upstairs with just window screens and a few fans. If it got too hot I remember sleeping outside on the front porch, but very rarely. My recollection was the grass browning during mid-summer dry periods, but not long periods of heat like this. -
Maybe a light frost in outlying areas tonight? I don't feel like covering everything so we'll see what happens.
-
If the models hold up Memorial Day weekend and several days leading up to it look to be our first torch of the year. We will be on the northern side of SE high pressure. It looks like a dry period too...finally. I think it's safe to plant tomatoes this weekend.

A solid freeze this morning with low of 29. I covered up as much as I could last night. I'm hoping our perennials make it. Our hydrangeas already got it last Saturday morning. A reprieve tonight with clouds and precip then probably a few more cold nights especially Friday and Saturday nights.

We got an inch of snow on the grass and deck in Cranberry. Looking at my weather cam footage most of it fell between 4 and 5 AM. Streets are just wet.

Ended up with 4.5" in Cranberry.
-
Nice flurry action this morning, got a quick 1/2" around 7AM.

Got close to an inch total snow in Cranberry, currently freezing rain at 30F...coming down at a good clip. Total precip is 0.24" I wasn't paying attention to when it switched over to liquid precip.
It was 23F at 4AM

Lines of storms forming to the north again.
On my drive into work this morning the ground here at Southpoint was bone dry.
-
My Final total was 3.88". There were a couple more rounds of heavy rain and lightning up until 2:30 AM.
-
Dumped the gauge at 9:45 PM, 3.10" and getting another round of heavy rain and lightning.....it's been constant since 5:30 with brief lulls. Seems like the 5th or 6th round.
-
I'm getting wave after wave of heavy rain here. Radar shows a precip train back into Ohio. I would say there is going to be flooding along the creeks soon.
-
Wow. In Cranberry....Heavy rain with pea sized hail, some lightning, 1.52" in about 45 minutes, but was wind driven against west side of house for a while so catch will probably be a little low. Standing water in my yard in all the low spots.

Golf ball size hail reported in Merced Countyj
Edit to add my brother said he wasn't getting golf ball size hail in Armstrong county at 3:08

TORNADO WATCH OUTLINE UPDATE FOR WT 274 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 145 PM EDT TUE MAY 28 2019 TORNADO WATCH 274 IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1000 PM EDT for our area

Tornado Watch likely in next couple hours according to latest Meso discussion from SPC.
...
...Tornadoes are possible as well, especially for storms that exhibit more southeast movement, which will maximize SRH per observed/forecast soundings....
-
Appears we'll have clearing this morning resulting in priming up the atmosphere for us this afternoon. Interesting that NWS discussion mentions that convection movement will be North to South this afternoon.
-
Tomorrow could be active. SPC has us in the Enhanced area
National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA

SHORT TERM /6 AM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...
Latest guidance has trended up CAPE values during the afternoon and early evening with HREF mean values over 3000 J/kg across the northern half of the forecast area by mid/late afternoon and slightly lower values to the south. Shear profiles are favorable for organized severe convection...as bowing lines and/or supercells. Damaging wind and hail are the primary threats with dry mid-level air yielding high DCAPE values and sufficient instability from -10C to -20C. Hodographs support tornadic storms as well...with more favorable LCLs across northern zones where ll moisture is expected to pool.

Only got 0.17" yesterday...better rain so far today, slow soaker but light so far. My immediate area seemed to be constantly missing the heavier downpours. I've never seen cool season grass look so dead brown in my lifetime.
