ok, serious question. since this is a gulf low, is there any chance that Saturday we will be moaning about thunderstorms in the gulf robbing moisture and creating a dryslot for someone who would have otherwise got good moisture?
I asked this in the main thread the other day (i thought it was a valid question) but i think it might have been considered trolling or something. Probably best to leave the storm thread for mets anyway to not clutter it up even with questions.
But it just seems so many times like this when we have a gulf low and we feel confident we are going to get a good thumping (maybe not necessarily my backyard, but somebody in N. GA) and then all of a sudden there is a dryslot and i hear that the moisture was robbed by thunderstorms in the gulf. I have not heard anyone discussing this and just wondered if the this is NOT something to worry about with this storm.
That is always a concern with a Miller A. Temps first IMHO and then moisture second. There are times that thunderstorms can aide in moisture from the GOM but that seems to be rare these days.

I'm glad QPF is lower , I've had enough rain for awhile, need to dry out!
They lowered the High temp expected today to 49 from 51. That is good news I guess.

Can I cash out with my 7 inches shown on the BUFKIT or is it to late?

GFS PARA looked like the NAM
Hey Burger how goes it. Glad I cashed out a couple of days ago with my 18.5 inches of fantasy snow.

SOOOO what does everyone have planned this rainy weekend?

I prefer a cold to mild rain anyway.

It's raining. It's snowing. It's raining snow.

Just like Jan 2010. At this point I hope it runs up 95 and we just rain.

Yep, 850 line going to be farther NW, no doubt. How can the models not analyze these things correctly once they're over land?
Weenie hearts are about to be broken. Prepare for the Cold Rain.

Looking at weather underground it looks like the high temp for today got lowered a bit from 52 to 50. If we can keep it below 50 i will feel a little better.

Always happens.
That would make it go boom here.

I hope my wife doesn't get jealous but I always loved German models.

The model hugging has begun.

Start it back. That thread is dead. We gotta light it back up. Let's start on Monday.
Alright. PR is dead it looks like. Maybe that will breathe some life into it.

Back tomorrow. Terrible time to go back.
Will they not give you an early snow day?
Are we we going to restart the stock market game or let it die?

Ground temps are a concern but will just make things worse as it will melt and then refreeze...assuming we get any snow. Which I am holding out until 12z runs tomorrow.
Can you imagine the meltdown if we lost this storm now.

I wouldn't think surface temps themselves will be an issue, but sneaky warm layers elsewhere could be - 925 mb, 750-800 mb. It seems these levels are most prone to screwing us over in the South, based on my limited experience.
In all my years of tracking winter weather in South Carolina, I have found there is always a warm nose. Always.

Widre is the board pessimist when it comes to snow. New people and Brick don't like that, but he's right to be that way more than he's wrong. In this case, as long as this thing doesn't get in here too early and get too amped, I'm not worried about temps. It's a very cold air mass coming in. Snow is cold and will have no problem piling up with good rates.
I agree for y'all. I still think we have some temp concerns but we will see.
Have you gone back back to work yet?

I think that was the GFS so you know that will not happen.
