I do 12 hour shifts in Hopewell Jct., Dutchess County; I live in central Rockland.  I'm not going in tomorrow because it should get progressively worse with every hour that goes by.  Bear Mountain Bridge hills are no fun in a two wheel drive MINI Cooper after about six inches.  I miss my Jeep Wrangler....  lol  I'm off 'til Friday I suspect.....  for the next storm....

Downsloping off the Taconics could be a real thorn in my side. Legendary for OC though... 18+ there seems more likely than not.

Today is my bday. In 39 years almost every bday I can remember has had snow on the ground, snow in the air, ice or rain around this date. 
Two of the best ones I remember: sometime around 1986 heavy rain to snow during my bday party. I was likely 4 or 5. Possibly 1996 an ice storm that left the city with a thin crusty cover of snow and ice.

I really prefer not to. Sadly, with the art show circuit being Covided into submission, it's necessary this year. 

Yep, it had everything to do with it. There were some real beauties of sunrises/sets this week, though the wonder is of course blunted by the dismay at all the destruction at its source.

Yep, it was a nice little reprieve from the year's funk. September remains the best beach time by no small margin IMO.
Looking at the logs from yesterday morning, my station actually rallied to 39.4 well after sunrise (and my initial post) when my location finally managed to completely decouple - the persistent 1-3 mph SSE breeze shut off around 7 am. Presumably the smoke layer was responsible for the delayed onset of daytime heating. Looks like we have a couple chances to get more folks their first 30s of the season this weekend before the mild-up to round out the month.

We'll know more by 245P. 

Power out since 4:30.  
No damage on my property but the area was raked.  Trees down everywhere.  And I don’t hear any chain sawing which means coned won’t even start working to restore power any time soon.
i do have cell service.  cars are filled with gas and I have propane for the grill with a side burner.  Also, have battery powered  motion sensor led light bars for Closets which I moved into the living areas. And I had downloaded some Netflix onto the iPad.  Looks like we’ll be grilling some stuff from the freezer.
 

Lost power at 1 am this morning according to my wife. Im hoping its short term as they turn off areas to fix damage....guess ill find out when i get home tonight.

DOA here. Too far North. Story of the year IMBY.

Had a max rain rate of 7.29 per hour. This cell formed 
over head and continues to back build. 3.53 in the Davis rain gauge so far with this event.
