What exactly do these people (SPC, Storm Chasers, Social Media crazies) keep seeing to make them get so bullish on severe risks the last few weeks?

Literally, twitter had people talking about 1974 outbreak for Ohio last week, now they're talking about May 3, 1999 for the Great Plains/Oklahoma next week. I'm assuming those are rare events. Why is everyone so crazy bullish?

After these events underperform, what exactly is not occurring that these people keep expecting to happen? Is it not enough instability? Is it not high enough dew points?

Got to convince the people that they should fear the weather, pay more taxes, and eventually get to mars lol.

I listen to AM radio all day and seemingly every week there is another weather story curated in a way that makes a garden variety storm sound as if it’s a precursor to greater threats in the future

    The playbook is exhausting.

    amen!

that and those damn windmills too.    Poor birds, if they manage not to get sliced and diced, they have to hope they don't get fried in mid flight now.

Those are fields we use to grow crop in as well. As supply chains continue to falter, we continue to ruin good dirt. It won’t be without consequences.

Had some snowflakes mix in with the rain today in rural Nicollet County MN where I was doing a geotechnical investigation for a future solar farm. Metro stayed dry.

Ease up on the solar farms plz. Ugly ass things are popping up everywhere.

  4. For those who think the climate is changing, how about looking to the winds?

Every other day there seems to be 30-40mph winds and every year they get more relentless

When I moved to a rural area, I noticed the wind more because there is nothing to block it. But these last 3-4 years the winds feel like they are on another level. Both in frequency of windy days and the strength of the wind on those days

What an absolutely historic winter this has been... been diving into some of the numbers. Really looking forward to the end of February to go through the final figures. 100 years ago, this would have been front page news in the New York Times - probably multiple times over the course of the winter. But nobody cares anymore, certainly not our derelict media. I guess back then a lot more people were working outdoors and would take notice of the anomalies. Many more day-to-day impacts from the weather.

2 weeks of full winter with 17”+ on the ground, preceded and followed by warmth. Younger me would have hated this, but older me enjoys it quite a bit.

I love tracking storms, but my sleep also enjoys not staying awake for model runs.

It’s more the driving / working outside for me. I manage vacant assets and last years (2022) Christmas time storm with all that wind and cold was havoc. And there wasn’t much snow to show for that.

This year, work has been a breeze
