Kankakee county in IL on the IN border. We had good spring rains and my parents on the other side of town had a huge downpour last week

It’s just been unlucky hyper-locally lately. Went fishing the last two days and keep getting snagged along the shore. The river has receded some. We did get some showers this AM which was nice. Will still have to water but I’ll take it

I think I'll go ahead and water my garden this morning.

Had to water the garden every day since we put it in May 22nd.  Rain has been hard to come by 
 

Another bust locally with the rain. I can’t remember a longer span with so little rain in the last 6 years

Last year we were on day 3 of the first of many extended heat waves of the summer. None of that garbage in sight so far. 

I work outside and don’t have AC in my house. We’ve grown too comfortable IMO and the long hot days are just part of the experience. To each their own for sure, but I need windows wide open and a shade tree.

Not a drop here yesterday. Been 8+ days since any rain. 

Looks like a miss here 

70/65 with full sun. Would be disappointed if we don’t get some bangers today 

Kind of in contrast to ALEK up north of the city, south by me is pretty warm, humid, and hazy.

Yeah no cicadas here in Kankakee. We’ve probably raped the land sufficiently enough over the last century to wipe them out 

This spring / summer has reminded me of my childhood. This spring feels very nostalgic, like the springs I remember. 
 

If we can get a squall going tonight, lighting up the skies to the west just before dark, it’ll be perfect 

I remember these days as a kid asking my parents “is it going to get us?”

I feel that way about tonight.

Regardless, the grid is going down at some point soon, by hook or by crook. Hope all my weather friends have fresh water, canned food, candles, batteries, and God.
