Understanding weather underground data and graphs

Recommended Posts

Sorry, newby question that I hope someone can help me understand what I am looking at. I am on weather underground looking at PWS data for a historic date in Indiana. There is a daily summary that lists precipitation and it says 2.45 in. Then when I go to the graph below there is a precipitation accumulation graph. What I don't understand is why the accumulation total only goes up to 0.22. Did they get 2.45 inches of precipitation or only 0.22 in of precipitation that day?  Are the 2.45 in and 0.22 somehow related?

Thank you for your help
