Atmpshere getting thicker or thinner ?

It would seem, with articles such as this

http://www.livescience.com/18604-cloud-heights-declining.html

and effects of recent climate change such as vastly increased amounts of QPF (rainfall, snow) per hour , increased amounts of hail globally....and cloud tops lowers in general...that our atmosphere is getting thinner / not thicker.

How come there also hasn't been more research mentioned since this earlier article that cloud tops are lowering.   (hush-hush ? )

maybe the same thing that did Mars's atmosphere in...is slowly doing the same thing here, with all the pollution going on, it shouldn't surprise many.

Looks like i'm right, since nobody disagrees.

Our atmosphere is becoming more compact...

1) Winds are more erratic, stronger , more sustained than ordinary systems in the past...in which wind 'shouldn't' be a big deal...but is.  I'm talking about weaker system (nor'easters, etc) from lets say a 985mb nor'easter....in which in years past winds would barely be noticeable.  But now their very noticeable.

2) Severe hail reports....and hail in general....which in the ole days, were mostly confined to the tornado alley area.   Now any area can get 3" to 4" softball size hail.

3)  Severely heavy rainfall rates.... 2 to 4 inches of rain per hour.  Yes, these types of events have occurred 50+ years ago....but nowhere near the increased frequency of which their occurring now.
