The wind is back! I am hearing things crashing in the yard but I am not sure what it is. This is the most intense sustained wind I have experienced here since Irene!

After being illuminated by a search light from a state trooper's car I could see that apparently a tree or part of a tree is down across the line in front of the house. Branches are down in the road and lawn furniture is overturned.

All of a sudden the winds have calmed down and the rain has tapered off

I am in Somers. We lost power an hour ago when the line across the street shorted out and caught fire. The wind is probably sustained about 30 with higher gusts around 50. I keep hearing things occasionally hitting the house and other noises in the distance. There were lots of power flashes earlier.

My wife just got back from Enfield and said that there were wires down on South Rd and Phoenix Ave with an accompanying fire.

Really intense lightning to the north!

I thought it looked like a tail cloud to me.

I have a good view to the east. I don't see anything remarkable for storm structure though. Just a lot of lightning!

It is thundering here in Somers. Very dark skies just to the north!

Shelf cloud just went over Somers. No lightning so far. No rain so far either. The wind is gusting to about 25 mph.

Frequent lightning to the east from that previously warned cell. I love nights like these!

It seems there was some brief lightning with that cell near Hartford.

Lots of CG to the east towards Stafford. Had a big downpour an hour ago. Now just steady moderate rain.

Thundering here now. Lightning seems to be somewhat more frequent now.
