The GFS throws in so much warm air that has rain at 4800ft - 4900 ft at Greeley. The Euro/Canadian/UKMET have significant snowfall values at Greeley, though.

Yeah this is what makes me think this situation is unsolved.  Location, temp, are still unresolved.  I don't think any of the forecasts are TOO wild for major metro areas but because of these inconsistencies I am actually concerned we end up with something weird out of climate change's book, and that that might be something very unexpected.

  2. The GFS is stubborn but, in a way, it hasn't been stubborn, its kind of moved north and then started to come back to where it was originally?  I'd be curious about the relative success rates of the Euro / GFS in forecasting front range weather at this point.

    QPF totals for 0z GFS:

    Regular:

    Boulder: 7.3"
    Denver: 3.9"
    FoCo:5.0"

    Para:

    Boulder: 5.3"
    Denver: 4.3"
    FoCo: 3.5"

This run seems a bit colder - I would presume this is all snow. Also, the storm keeps getting pushed back - light snow begins early Saturday, heavier stuff moves in late morning.

What am I missing with temps?  The latest tropical tidbits looks like a crazy rainstorm over the Denver area haha

I got kind of chilly while taking these pictures. I figured it was nearly 70 degrees in the daytime, so I should wear a t-shirt to take sunset pics. Nope. 55 degrees and windy

Hey guys if anything close to the gfs and para end up happening what are places in the state that would be a choice to chase to?  I’ve never been beyond Pittsburg PA so I obv don’t know much about Denver/suburbs

we're a long way out, as you know, with modeling.  if there is that much snow near the denver mountains, it wouldn't be the most safe thing to chase as there are areas where it isn't survivable out here.  but the foothills / denver proper would be interesting.  I'm not an expert chaser, I have just seen these mountains turn from driveable to "your survival is threatened" pretty quickly.
