    Winter Storm 1/6 - 1/8, 2017

Been snowing here in Brier Creek-a few miles NW of RDU on the Durham/Wake county line for an hour now ....and streets, deck, sidewalks etc completely covered. About 1 inch.

Great. I keep a boat there in Little River, SC. Will see if it is still there next weekend. SMH

Tapering off big time over here. Looks like those in the coastal plain still have a few more hours to go.

Weather update here in Raleigh-they just broke in...sounds like rain here should be ending by 6PM and just sprinkles after so its just about done here.

I feel ya. It will be the same shift that made it miss Cape Canaveral, Daytona, Jacksonville, Savannah and next up-Charleston. Maybe it will this time, but my money isnt on it.

This is too funy. Watching the Weather Channel. They show the continued forecast with the loop out to sea (though moved north) but their future rain forecast shows the Norfolk/Hampton Roads area of VA with flooding. Hmmmmmmm

Watching weather channel and they are drawing a line thru the center and showing it already making a decent turn east and showing it wont get anywhere close to NC. Hmmm

Never...its just a model. The storm is gonna do what it wants to do.

Core is drying out...taking in a lot of dry air. Center jogging to the north as well.

16 feet 7 inches of precip west of Wilmington? Ummmm highly unlikely.

Is this surprising? Dont tornadoes usually accompany major hurricanes or is that as rare as flooding?

For reference...the expected winds for the Raleigh area from Matthew will about like what we are experiencing today (maybe less) per NWS: For Thursday afternoon: This associated cloud distribution will probably support an atypical temperature one, with upper 60s over the NE Piedmont and NRN Coastal Plain, ranging to lower to perhaps middle 70s over the SRN and WRN Piedmont. It will also become breezy, with 10-15 kt sustained winds gusting between 15-25 kts this afternoon - strongest E. Lows tonight will not be as cool as recent days, given steadily increasing low level moisture/humidity, widespread low OVC, and probable rain - lows in the 60s.

Yeah...you need a hobby big time to "spice things up". Hoping for a landfalling hurricane with no damage? Id like to a brief nuclear exchange...you know...just to see the mushroom clouds and fireball nothing major dont want anyone to get hurt but damn im bored.
