Hey all. I’m chasing this storm up from Philly. I don’t want to drive more than 3 hours tops. I was thinking either poconos, but also Williamsport or around the Harrisburg region. Any spots you’d recommend based on current data? I’m a little worried in E PA about the deformation zone lifting farther N than anticipated, but that’d still be better for c pa. Can’t decide! I’d be leaving early  tomorrow morning so still time to get some model runs in.

Hey, I’m also chasing this storm(from dc area). Very familiar with the selinsgrove, Williamsport area so hoping those two will be in the max area. Would just be happy with 12-15”+.

The map for 4-6” was last updated at 4:45am and the point and click (which tallies up to 3-5”) was last updated 7:29am. Not sure if LWX will downgrade us to advisory but maybe northern Calvert is still on the table for WSW level snow, I haven’t checked.

I wouldnt worry about what NWS is saying now. We have to see how the storm develops and if we can get heavy banding to help out. I think a layer of ice and sleet is nice for the snow to stick to.

All snow now and coming down heavy. I think 5-6 is a good call for all of us.

Was just about to say it looked like snow mixing in outsides a couple minutes ago. Now it’s 50/50 snow/sleet and at Prince frederick that does seem off, even Chesapeake beach is 32-33. I look on weather underground for stations close to me. I’m fine with 4-6. I think that is doable.

Good Morning Fellow Southerners... Working From home today in Central Calvert County. Sleeting pretty heavily at the moment. 32f and 31 dew.

Sleeting here too, nice ice accretion from all the drizzle last night. 31.8F right now. Hoping we turn to snow within the next hour or two.

Location just north of the 2&4 split in huntingtown.

  5. Had a little snow on the car this morning. The 6z runs the gfs was more amped and was a little stronger with the low, however precip was basically the same, the nam came in a little less amped causing precip to move farther southeast by 20-30 miles. Ecmwf was pretty awesome .4 all the way to northern Calvert and .8 at the beaches on the eastern shore. It's probably the wettest model currently.

  6. Is that place any good? I've never been there. Always looking for new places to eat around here.

I love it, they have really good margaritas and i usually get the nacho fajitas for an appetizer, if i'm drinking. It feeds two or more people, unless you are extremely hungry. Also their regular fajita options are really good. My friends like basically every entree there so I don't think there is a wrong choice.

Also, 30.4F on and off light freezing rain showers/drizzle. Probably have around 1/8 of a inch of ice accretion on cars and over previous snow pack.

  7. HRRR did pretty good last night highlights st marys as the bullseye, showing 5" by 7 am this morning. HRRR is now showing us switching over to sleet and then freezing rain, at 1pm in st marys and 2pm in calvert, but not after another 2-3 inches of snow. HRRR also shows around .15-.25 inch of ice in southern maryland through 3-10pm. 10 pm rain in st marys and then around 11pm in calvert.

  8. I think Friday morning is starting to look encouraging for some snow in our regions, especially lower eastern shore. Most models show 1-4 inches on the eastern shore and around a inch in Southern Maryland. Surface temps look to start warm but will cool down with precip. Euro shows, Salisbury starting 40-43 as rain and then turns to snow when the heavy precip is over head, cooling down to 33-34 but upper columns are cold enough to make it snow. It shows 4" for Salisbury. 1-2 for Calvert/Charles and most of St. Mary's 2". GFS is nothing for northern Calvert and Charles, 1" for St. Mary's and 1-4" on Delmarva with heavy rain turning to heavy snow. GFS however did jump 30-40 miles northwest with precip compared to 6z. So with all said, hopefully the trend will be our friend. RGEM is a general 1-2" for most.
