We did have 1 cooling degree day yesterday. That probably hasn’t happened much in January.

The building radar returns down along I-95 look promising. 

2-2.5” in S. Arlington. Freezing drizzle right now.

That back edge is getting awfully close to DC.

If we can hang on today it will be the first time since Feb 2021 of two consecutive days below freezing at DCA.

The forecast has tomorrow making three days for the first time since January 2018.

I dug a little deeper for DCA. Counts by month (the count is higher than the period of record because of ties):

March: 1 (1907)
April: 2 (1960, 1976)
May: 4 (1889, 1963, 1996, 2004)

September: 13
October: 0 (In 2019 DCA was one degree away with 98 in October, the annual high was 99)

I didn’t do a measurement but I’m just E of Fredericksburg and it looks to be in the 1-1.5” range.

I was in the 1-2" range this morning.

Fredericksburg was in 2-3, now in 1-2. And the high end amount is now 3.9, down from maybe 4.5.

It would appear that LWX dropped totals.
