  1. Up to about an inch on elevated surfaces in Arlington.

My Hill of Doom MUST have been brined.

Otherwise, the sidewalks and driveway partially caved in again.

(Thinking about it, I'm not TOO surpized that Falls Church called it early. The high points are about 400 feet elevation, and with the latest NWS update..."5 for us? No bus."

  2. On school alerts:

I think the preliminary decisions for the lowlanders (Arlington/Alexandria/Falls Church/Fairfax) won't come until after 4 pm, and may start off as school delays rather than school closings. ((Have to save it up for Febrruary...))

PW and Loudoun may start off sooner, and may go straight to closings, as they have higher elevations.

  3. Woke up in Arlington VA this morning to a coating on the roads and sidewalks, about a half-inch on elevated surfaces, a bit more on the shrubs. Now with an hour-plus of sun angle, the road cleared off, sidewalks are clearing, elevated surfaces and shrubs lost some snow.

  4. WWAs up from Culpepper County on west for Monday morning.

NWS just issued a travel advisory for the Baltimore area:

...POTENTIAL WINTER COMMUTING HAZARD FOR THE BALTIMORE
    METROPOLITAN AREA MONDAY MORNING...

There is a potential for hazardous commuting conditions for the
Monday morning morning commute. A period of snow is POSSIBLE (a
30 to 50 percent chance) Monday morning across the Baltimore
metro area into north-central Maryland. A coating up to an inch
of accumulation is possible along with the potential for snow
    covered roads.

If this threat does materialize during the Monday morning commute,
many roads could quickly turn snow covered. This could lead to
dangerous traveling conditions, multiple accidents, and extensive
    delays.

I will gladly take any snow that falls and enjoy our tundra

And laugh at the preemptive road treatments

You wouldn't laugh if you lived on a Hill of Doom.

The trash trucks have to get through somehow without taking out front yards.

WAIT-maybe you do have your own Hill of Doom...
