Very hard to get a reading but I think from averages we are at around 6 inches. Wind gusts up to 45 but we are usually higher here then DC proper and inland SoMD due to proximity to the water.
Took a video- it sounds almost like ocean waves. https://twitter.com/turbulentmouse/status/690744054762463232

Haha typical Ches Beach. We had a few flakes, then nothing and now there's a flake every 15 min ;-)
-
Just got here!

He got In fine, home now. Just went down to the water and the charter fishing boats (and any others still in the water) are tied down tight so not surprised about the high wind advisory. The birds didn't seem too concerned, they were just chilling, puffed up and hunkered down on the ice.

This was posted in the model thread but I'll repost here just for posterity. Even crazier than the 18z GFS on Jan 19 with southern MD bullseye. 49"! Saved this to my desktop too.
Yes that's the one I was talking about! Could not get it to show up in my post. I will save it forever.

The GFS runs are crazy.
Beautiful sky this morning. "Red clouds in the morning"...lol
I just sent a picture of the sunrise to my husband with the exact same saying. He is trying to fly in right before the storm- set to land around 10am DCA. It really was gorgeously ominous.
-
Did y'all see the early morning GFS run that jackpotted Southern MD? Haha! I don't believe it at all but it would be fun to see something that against climo.
-
Hey, I live in Huntingtown, didn't notice it wasn't on my profile already.
Nice! It will be great to see the gradient of totals as we move down the line south.
-
Welcome back! My son wants to go out in it too and build a snowman- he thinks this was the snow I keep telling him about. Had to explain that the real snow is coming soon!
My goal is to get at least 8", then I'll be happy - that would be the biggest storm for me since I moved down here. I've had a bunch of 5-7" storms already.
Thanks! Life was crazy for a bit. I had the same problem. She doesn't understand that no, this is just the preview. She will have enough to build a real snowman if she just waits.
I would be completely happy with 8. That would be the most for us since we moved here also and this year I have a snow blower. So bring it on Mother Nature!

Nice little snow surprise last night. About an inch in Ches Beach. My snow loving 4 year old was out dancing in it. I am guessing our totals will be much lower (maybe 6 inches?) than DC for the weekend storm but our winds will be higher.
-
We were able to pick up some conversational snow this morning at the Ches beach/owings line. If you drove toward the water in 260 as soon as the hill started down the snow line stopped and it was all rain. So interesting!
-
I got 6". And a cute little snowdrift against the door that made my cat think she was snowed in.

It's been snowing here (I guess) for awhile. Tiny flakes that are really hard to tell if they are snow or not and it's not accumulating quickly at all. Maybe rounding up we have .5 inches? Maybe.
-
Deck covered in sleet. That's about it. Saw some fat flakes trying to mix in a bit.
-
I have not ventured out but the so md news outlets are reporting slick roads and a lot of spin outs in calvert, Charles and St Mary's.
-
All freezing rain here. Nice icy glaze forming on all surfaces. Pretty confused because our hourly breakdown forecast keeps extending the event. First it ended at 7pm, then 1am, and now it saying not until 7am tomorrow. Not sure where they think all that precip is coming from...
-
Calvert all the way up to me I hope. I will cry if PF gets snow and I get nothing.
-
27 degrees and all sleet now. I do not appreciate the cold when it refuses to produce snow.
-
We are just barely clinging to the snow side of the line. Flakes are changing. Noreastericane, you seem to be on the sleet side already if I believe the radar. Sorry :-(
-
25 degrees and coating things quickly. About .25 so far. Too bad the temps won't stay down otherwise this would be a nice snow event.
-
Haha I started laughing with all the people in the main thread talking about all their snow this morning. It just barely started snowing here.
-
6.25 is exactly the same as my measurement this morning in Ches beach at about 5:30am.
-
3 inches. Rate has picked up and I really love how pretty it is. So rare that we get this type of snow.

Friends in Lexington Park said they have sleet right now also. :-/
