I adjusted some of the totals a little...this is my current thinking.  I think during the heaviest precip it will mix out the warm layer just enough to do better then the doomsday scenario on some of the high res guidance.  Ratios will be low but it will be puking precipitation so even if its a 50/50 snow/sleet mix it will accumulate a decent amount.  I also think these gulf systems with true cold air in place tend to run on the wet side of guidance.

You will be fine down there. You need to be north of I 40 and west of Rt 1 to get Ice in this type of system. You may see some glaze but nothing to worry about

Thanks to you and bullcity. If i were still in NOVA I wouldn't have to ask, it would just be snow and more snow :)

Microclimates in that area are real! Used to have the same thing at my in-laws when I lived there for a year. Germantown would have white rain and I'd measure 1-2" at the house. It's bizarre, but it's MoCo!

Just travel a little further north on Route 27 to Damascus. I was always amazed as a kid how much more we would get than say Rockville.

My son lives in Purcellville Va. (8 to 12) might be a good weekend to go see my new granddaughter.

P'ville is always good for high end of snow in NOVA. Fondly remember digging out of all the big ones there over the past 12 years. Just moved down this way, guess I will live vicariously through the MA forum.
