  1. Just got this text from Spectrum: We're preparing for potential service outages during the storm. Visit Spectrum.net/stormprep for info. If you lose power, call your utility company.

Is this really necessary from my ISP?

  2. Enjoy your storm all! I live just east of the OSU airport (Don Scott) but am currently in sunny Phoenix visiting our son who just moved out here last year. My other son and daughter are watching our dogs and report that it was ripping snow at the house a little bit ago. I can't believe I'm missing the first decent storm in so long. I'll live vicariously through reading your reports in between sunny mountain hikes, etc. Have fun and post some pics!

  4. Lol that sounds terrible.  Probably the same people that wear them in their cars.
Why do you care so much? It's not hurting you. On the other hand, if someone doesn't wear a mask in a crowded area and has asymptomatic covid they could infect others. It's a simple matter of compassion and empathy. I truly don't understand the mask debate.

  5. Got on here and saw the "hot" tag on this thread and stupidly thought maybe something good was brewing. sigh..

This has been without a doubt the most craptastic winter I remember thus far in my lifetime. My boss typically goes to Florida for a week in February and we have had polar vortexes here during that same week, on more than one occasion. I was holding out hope for that, but I fear my hopes will be dashed. Oh well..

Seriously, you need to find religion.  At least that way you can blame God...or Jesus...or Allah...or Buddah...etc.   How can you be infuriated at 'people' based on weather ?...

I would suggest Buddhism since it's very big on accepting things as they are and not having expectations. Take the 4 noble truths:

    1 Life involves suffering

    2 Desire causes suffering

3 Suffering comes and goes like passing clouds

4 With practice we can awaken and be free from suffering

That said, I too cannot avoid my desire for snow, and living in Columbus causes me great suffering! <_<

Perhaps, when I experience thundersnow, I will attain enlightenment! :D

  7. GFS hinting at a slight blow-torch one week out. Well, at least for the far southwest Ohio Valley. Temps deep into the 60’s in southwest KY... wow. The cold just never wants to lock in this winter.

This will verify. Cold and snow, not so much.

I still don’t understand why people do this.  It’s not the 1940’s, even if we got a foot of snow, give it a day at the most and roads will be fine to travel on.

    ^this. Mob mentality at work...

He’s on ABC 6 now I think.  I don’t watch that channel though as I don’t have a tolerance for their news anchors

Yeah, I don't care for 6 either. Saw Ganahl in person over the summer. He's not looking well. Love his enthusiasm for winter weather. He inspired me to build several backyard ice rinks when my kids were younger. I'm afraid the days of backyard ice rinks in central Ohio are long gone.

yea, definitely a concern.... I feel like ugly things might happen today trend-wise, or maybe it was bad shrimp last night.      Still have to realize that with such a stout high to the north and a relatively fast flow with a storm on a pos. tilted trough, this definitely could go through a cycle on the models where they overamp it, and then as we close into 72 hours or so, weaken it back to earlier runs as a bit weaker and more progressive.

The point is you could make a strong meterological argument either way.   But yea, today I'm fearing the nw bump.

I'm getting that deja vu all over again feeling.

The weenie side of me is all :mapsnow:

The rational side of me knows that when we're riding the line at this point, a screw job could be imminent...
