This storm is definitely exceeding expectations, loving it

Kinda amusing how a Blizzard Warning for this would probably verify way more than the pre Christmas storm

Just had TSSN here, I'll grab some pics when the heaviest band hits in probs 30/40 mins

WSWarning issued for Michigan. Is it just me or has the information derived from the WSWarning's really gone down hill? When I was younger they went through a lot of the expected outcome in detail. This one just says "Snowfall greater than 6 inches possible". And thats basically it.
Ever since they switched to the standardized format and quit letting the forecasters include details about the system in the warnings they’ve been less informative. I think they should bring back a brief synopsis section.

Blizzard conditions with heavy wet snow? I can’t imagine much blowing around from an accumulating stand point
With possible three inches an hour rates, the 30 to 40 mph winds will definitely make it look near zero visibility

IWX mentioning near blizzard conditions and power outages in their morning watch update

LOT, IWX, GRR and DTX will probably have to issue watches with hilariously high gaps in the totals, we could see another “Total Snowfall of 2 to 12 inches” type watch like an office in Wisconsin had to do earlier this winter

IWX discussion largely discounting the GFS and thinking ratios will be 6:1 or 7:1.
Considering how they discounted the GFS last week and we got completely nuked by the ice, would be funny if the GFS verifies AGAIN

@SteboTo ask you a weathery question since you weren’t posting here during the recent storm, how off caught guard was everyone NWS wise to southern extent of the ice? I know people have made jokes about the late ice storm warning upgrades but I imagine there was some reason

Trending north, unfortunately for me. Earlier, Cincy was supposed to get 24", now zilch. Indy earlier was supposed to get 30" (!) now much less. The highest I see now is Fort Wayne with 21"...
As this week proved, things can change fast

Hows @HillsdaleMIWeatherdoing? Watching the news they said 90% of the county was without power which is not good in such a rural area
I was out for about 18 hours here in a part of Hillsdale near the high school, they’ve started to get more and more the city itself up and running, as well as Jonesville. The smaller communities in Hillsdale County who are served by Consumers Power are in bad shape, their estimated restoration isn’t until March 2nd to 5th, shelters are open and I plan to go help out Monday.

The extremely chilly night and morning I went through is not something I want to repeat in a hurry. Hillsdale County got what sounds like .5 to .75 on elevated surfaces causing extreme power line damage all over

I know hindsight is 20/20 but a good argument could be made that the upgrades needed to happen 6-8 hours ago when it was obvious the forecasted warming wasn’t happening

Just had a branch just about take out my window, power lines and transformers blowing en masse when the wind blows a little even though we’re in a brief lull

I see that IWX finally upgraded Branch and Hillsdale Counties, MI to an Ice Storm Warning, now that HillsdaleMIWeather has to go out to his car to charge his phone so he can post.
The power here keeps going out and coming back on every 20 mins, there’s a lot of damage all over
