Just measured 4" in west Cary.
  2. 1/16-1/17 Event OBS

Heavy snow in Cary under that 35 dbz band. Big, fluffy flakes. Grass, roads, and pavement completely covered.
  3. Jan 3-4th Coastal Crusher OBS

Wow, ripping fat flakes right now under that band in west Cary.
  4. January 3-4 Storm Thread part II

For us in central NC, we better hope the western slp dominates or the energy transfer from the dual lows will dryslot us. Glad I had low expectations for this storm, we’ll be lucky to make out a dusting in RDU.
  5. Sleet starting to mix in with the rain now in Cary.
  6. Still steady rain here in Cary. No mixing at all.
  7. 2017 Banter Thread #1

When you're watching areas 30 miles to your NW get heavy snow while you get 33 and rain. Basically how tracking storms feels like in RDU nowadays.
  8. Blizzard of 2016 - Official Obs Thread

Moderate snow in Cary as well. Coming down hard.
  9. Blizzard of 2016 - Official Obs Thread

Some ZR mixing in with the sleet now. Not much accretion yet, but i'm sure that'll change.
  10. Blizzard of 2016 - Official Obs Thread

Heavy sleet with token flakes in Cary.
  11. Blizzard of 2016 - Official Obs Thread

    Mod/Heavy sleet in Cary.
  12. August 2015 Observation thread.

Had some very heavy rain driving on I-40 from south Raleigh to the US1-64/I-40 interchange. Just a T imby. What a difference a few miles can make. Seems to be another cell to the west of me wonder if it will reach me or not.
  13. June 2015 Observation Thread

The line of storms died over me and ended up with only 0.04. What a bust.
  14. June 2015 Observation Thread

1.95" overnight, 2.11" total from yesterday.
  15. June 2015 Observation Thread

Getting the action here in Cary now. Very windy and heavy rain.
