Very warm if it's correct, there's support to from the CMC & EPS.
If true, hopefully the middle/end of December turns out like end of the two months that preceded it: colder and stormy.

Flake size and intensity have increased. Just drove from Queens to Nassau Cty. Grass on the side of the CIP and SSP have a good coating.

Pixie dust in Fresh Meadows.
-
It's been a dreary, drizzly soup in western Nassau for most of the day, with periodic episodes of heavier rain.

FWIW, TWC lowered my totals from 8-12 to 5-8. They obviously see something they don't like.

What does TWC have for you now? I have a feeling they might up totals again in the morning.
Last I saw was 6" here but I'm not taking that seriously lol.
What they have now is what they had last night -- 5-8.

Lee Goldberg going with 6-9" for NYC and 9-12" right from the Queens/Nassau Border on east.
That's kind of where I am -- right off the Southern State a few exits past the death-curve from the Cross Island.

And just to continue my apology tour, TWC actually increased their forecast for snowfall in my area.

Are they saying this on-air? Their online site video and local text forecast says 4"-8" for NYC.
I apologize. I misread something on their site. They're still saying 4-8.

Lmao, Lonnie Quinn from CBS 2 going down the ship with the Canadian model and predicts 1"-3" for NYC.
TWC is saying the same thing. Maybe they're right?

The Euro should be interesting. Its 12z run was a rather large departure from its earlier runs and the relatively consistent GGEM.
I'm getting too old to stay up.

Both the 0z NAM and GFS have taken a step toward the upper air pattern that has been shown on the GGEM.
I just find this whole science to be fascinating -- part hard science, part art. And I love reading people's takes -- the pros, the amateurs, the enthusiasts, and the weenies. I know this comment doesn't address yours, but I haven't the skill to do so, so . . .
But the changes of the surface depictions on the models was quite stark tonight; even I could see that. Wonder what the Euro does.

it usually is boring this time of year...if the blocking materializes as forecast chances go up if you like cold and snow...if it's boring around Dec. 20th I'll start complaining too...
Of course, you're right. I am glad that November was more autumnal this year. I like the brisk temps; they're good for walking.
But boring weather leads to bickering in the main threads. We need something. STAT

two winters I lived through in the 1960's had record warmth the first week of December...both years had a KU storm soon after...the years were 1960 and 1966...
Here's hoping, because this is just boring.

Yes. He lost quite a lot of credibility with that one.
