  1. KPIT is doing a special balloon launch this afternoon when the dry air moves in.
  2. SPC expanded the Enhanced area to cover most of Western PA. If we get some sun it's game on this afternoon.
  3. It's been snowing for several hours in Cranberry, but just started to accumulate on grass and deck about 30 minutes ago when the rate picked up. Street and sidewalks just wet. 30F.
  4. Everything is coated in an 1/8" layer of ice around here, shrubs, driveway, deck. We had ice pellets, sleet, a few flakes of snow then ending as freezing rain. Temp hovered around freezing and slightly below freezing with the rain at the end. There was enough slush and ice on our street that they used the plow when the twp truck came around.
  5. My weather station just took a drop to -1.6 at mid day.
  6. 79 South was a mess this morning all the way to Southpointe.
  7. This past weekend was a stealth snow event. I didn't pay much attention to the forecasts which sounded like dustings, but ended up with almost 4" of new snow from Friday to Sunday morning. And, the cold overperformed this morning with a -2.
  8. Nice little snow burst going on here in Cranberry at daybreak. At least a new inch since I brushed off yesterday's snow this morning from my measuring spot.
  9. Looking at the CoCoRAHS reports the highest amount of snow that I see is 14" near Erie, NW interior and northcentral mtns seem to be a general 8-10", NE PA around 3-6", no where near the modeled high end (what was it now, it changed so much?) 12-18". Total precip was good, I feel the starting temperature was the issue. No cold air in place pre-storm.
  10. Wrap up: As of 7AM my totals are 1.08" total liquid, 3.0" new snow(0.20" melted liquid), 3.5" on ground. Surprisingly with all the rain the existing snow pack held tough. There was a quick snow burst around noon with a trace that melted quickly on hard surfaces. The rest of the day had light misty rain until 4PM when steadier rain began and continued until the changeover to snow around 2:30 AM. Temperature head steady at 34 until the cold arrived about 3AM. The snow is drifting so the depth is an average of several places, could be +\- a half inch. Currently snow and blowing snow, gusty winds, at 18F. This was a juicy storm, too bad it wasn't all snow.
  11. Steady rain for the last several hours now, well over a 1/3”. Temperature holding steady at 34 all day. Sticking a fork in it.
  12. We had a great plan to have comfort food this weekend and watch snow falling. One of those ain’t happening.
  13. Really, lol. We cut the cord and went streaming, so don’t get the weather channel anymore. I bet they’re getting good shots of the drizzle/misty rain falling now.
  14. The early snow that covered the driveway has melted, nothing since around noon, up to 34 now.
  15. My wife is only about 3 miles south of our house at work along 228 and says it’s raining there.
  16. Pre-temperature is what I'm worried about. It's 29 in my backyard this morning. Channel 11 showed rain getting up to Butler and staying rain past 11PM
  17. I feel a major screwing coming. It's still above freezing the evening before. Warmth is overperformimg.
