Not trying to be a jerk but the NAM was absolute trash with this storm. It drove a primary up almost into Ohio 3 days ago.

Skywalker03 Posted February 18 Finally getting that heavy sleet in Derwood. Might even be seeing some flakes mix in. Kids are happy as their daycare is closed. I guess we’ll go sleet sledding later
ErinInTheSky Posted February 18 3 minutes ago, clskinsfan said: This NAM? Way to pick out the worst run of the NAM at its longest range lol. What was king euro showing at that range, 10" of snow for MoCo? The NAM had this down even 2 days ago. As of last night the Euro was still giving the region widespread 5" of snow. Put another way... I've been hugging the NAM this entire event and I'm not bummed out at all. This has actually been a fun one to track and I'm getting in my yard exactly what I expected.
Wetbulbs88 Posted February 18 2 minutes ago, clskinsfan said: This NAM? Maybe you don't understand the context. The pros said they were favoring the NAM. I mentioned this as a potential indicator of problems with our forecast. Some people jumped down my throat. Seems like you've joined the people who choose hostility because it doesn't show snow--but it's particularly strange because it's not even your backyard. Would be nice if I didn't have to present the rosiest outlook regardless. If you're not a red tagger here or part of some old school clique, you're not allowed to say certain things. Period. Hence, high school. 1

LP08 Posted February 18 Huge sleet pellets in N Arlington. And some flakes!
haudidoody Posted February 18 Still sleet in Fairfax, although under the orange returns seeing the cooling aloft happen in real time with clumpy sleet and even a few flakes making it down. We need sustained orange to get there, guess we have a chance in the last couple hours based on radar.

Eskimo Joe Posted February 18 The roads with a few inches of sleet are definitely worse than any of the other snow events we've had this year. The cold air last night has helped the precipitation bond more efficiently to the road surfaces. Southbound I-270 from the Frederick County line to about the ICC has a lot of wrecks. 2

It showed--BY FAR--the best solution last night. On Monday it's not in its range. You see, THIS is a terrible post. But I'm not part of the AmericanWx Mid-Atlantic mafia so only certain people are taken seriously. I've been far more objective with these storms than others. NovaWahoo Posted February 18 26/25. Sleet. I've yet to see a single snowflake - fatty, rimed, or otherwise. Though I believe we had about a 1/2" fall before 5:30 am.

The Ole Bucket Posted February 18 It sucks that so many are missing out on big snows.. but the silver lining is that this sleet event is pretty unique and it's probably cutting down ice totals.
