MikeGold
Temp is 36 degrees and looks like the GFS was right with this one. Looking at temperature profiles and rainfall totals in the valleys I estimate 2 inches of snow has fallen on top of the Balsams although it appears to be tapering off. Another 1 or 2 inches expected again tonight with a clipper zipping by.
Tacoma
Still raining in Asheville and was suppose to already have changed to snow. Just don't think we're going to see it. Still 40 in Asheville. Think this one is a dud.
CAD_Wedge_NC
Still raining in Asheville and was suppose to already have changed to snow. Just don't think we're going to see it. Still 40 in Asheville. Think this one is a dud. Per web cams, changeover to snow in Boone is complete. Never thought it would take that long, Going to be hard pressed to see snow in Asheville with this first system. Maybe tonight or tomorrow morning early. QC_Halo
I'm in a house near Bryson City at about 2,800 feet this week. I've got blue skies directly overhead and to the west, and looking at clouds to the ENE. Think I'm going fishing today. Taking the kid on the Polar Express tonight, and a little snow then would be great.

superjames1992
Here's GSP's forecasted amounts for tonight's clipper system: I love the random <1" dot in Davie County. I'm guessing that's a mistake?
calculus1
I love the random <1" dot in Davie County. I'm guessing that's a mistake? I'm sure this entire graphic is computer-generated. I don't really think their forecasting team puts any thought into this. It's probably generated right off the GFS (or a blend of models).

SnoJoe
Ray seems to think that this system will a little be more robust than what GSP and WLOS are thinking. http://www.raysweather.com/premium/conditions/event-facebook.jpg

That's why the high totals. Of course, last night's totals did not materialize in the Smokies area of the WNC mountains.
