Just saw an article on Accuweather about an incoming windstorm this weekend, but NWS has no mention of wind this weekend.
Thoughts from you experts please

Not in the least looking forward to this tomorrow.
I completely agree.
I've prepped as much as I can for a power outage. Hoping for the best and preparing for the worst :/

I'm on the southern edge of Lawrence County, and it's all rain here right now. Those heavy bands must be more north than the SPC's map shows.

My oldest and I watched it. It was such a wonderfully, touching episode. We cried through a lot of it, but for us it was more because of the women who lost children as we just lost a young one in the family the week before. My prayers are still with everyone in Joplin. I absolutely loved the heart of america display they made for Joplin.

Hoping that everyone had a Merry Christmas and has a safe and happy new year in Joplin! Thank you for keeping us all updated JoMo!

I am so glad to see how much has been accomplished so far

Thank you for sharing this! These are some of the most detailed and moving stories I have read. My thoughts and prayers are still with everyone in Joplin!
Remember the video of the people in the cooler?
Here's some of their stories:

That is awesome that the park is going to get a grant to rebuild!!!

Thank you for sharing her story. I have been watching this thread since the tornado hit Joplin and cannot begin to imagine what anyone there is going through, but the posts you and Joplinmet have posted have helped to put it into perspective a little more.
My thoughts and prayers continue to be with everyone in Joplin.

So sorry for your loss, but glad to hear you're okay.

Well the tornado did not follow the nice perfect contours of that map(not knocking the map) and the windspeeds/damage rating at different points is going to vary, given whether or not it is on the periphery, etc.etc.
Given what was said to be JoMo's street-it looks to be in the minor damage area. The school about 1/4 mile directly east was listed as damaged, not one of the four schools destroyed-just damaged to some extent. Also looking at different pictures, aerials, video, etc., it looks like he just escaped the worst of it-very bad streak of damage just to the south of where he is thought to have lived. It did not look like major damage(roofs off, etc.) from what I could tell where he is supposed to be.
From the aerial video, there are areas in the path of that map that are shown to have little damage(like the blue storage shed area directly north of where JoMo is thought to live).
Thank you for your insight! It is greatly appreciated!

I took the liberty of making a map in the Geographic Information system (GIS) software ArcMap of the tornado as it went through Joplin. My intent is not to rub in the damage, but rather to provide a geographical reference for those not familiar with the area. Data was provided by the National Weather Service as well as the Jasper and Netwon County offices of emergency management and department of public works. Please refer to the latest media releases by the aforementioned agencies for additional information.
Based on what all of you have said, wouldn't this map put JoMo right in the damage zone? I don't know much about this stuff, but that's how the map looks to me. Still keeping JoMo and everyone else affected by this in my thoughts and prayers.

My dad texted me a bit a go and said his normal hour drive took him 2.5 hours because PGH was so bad.
