22/23 Jan 2016 Blizzard for IAD
Overall and 2-day storm total, #2 at 29.3 (#1 is 32.4 from 5/6 Feb 2010)

IAD will crush the record daily precip for the month of April....previous record was 2.9 on April 20, 2008.

IAD has now recorded 16.0 inches of snow in March 2014, bringing the 2013-14 total to 49.0 inches vs. only 29.8 inches for DCA. Thus, the separation of 19.2 inches has now surpassed the previous record set in 1992-93.
Also, this is the snowiest March Ever in the History of Dulles, displacing 92/93's 15.5.

My trained eye indicates IAD had it's 4th largest seasonal snow total this year.
150 inches over the past five years. 30 inch average per year puts this 5 year period well above average!

Today's low of 7 at IAD set a new daily record (8, 1988) and the expected high will easily beat the low max of 21 (1996+)
-
This morning's low of 51 at both DCA and IAD tied the record high minimum at DCA and broke it at IAD. Also, BWI's morning low of 54 broke the record there.
Sunday looks to feature multiple record category breakage....High mins will likely be crushed at IAD and DCA, and pretty decent shot at exceeding the high max at both.
I will be out soaking in that record warmth, even if it rains.

The two-year seasonal record minimum amount of snow in DC is actually 1996-97 and 1997-98, which saw 6.8 inches of snow. So, DCA must receive at least 3.3 inches of snow during the rest of this season to avoid the last two seasons setting the all-time record for snow futility.
That period overall was wetter and colder than the last two seasons. Another nail in the bogus "wet/warm cold/dry" cliche.

PD I, Feb 79
First big snow after moving to the area. Magical as a kid, and the aftermath was fun. Still remember big pine trees in the yard swaying in the wind and whiteout conditions.
Was the event that got me interested in weather and climate.
Feb 5/6 2010 my #2, and yesterday at #3.
