How do you get up there? Road wise
550 will get you up to Cascade from 15. I’m not sure of the local roads but look for Penn Mar park and then there’s an access road leading up to get to HR.

Do you have any idea where the best place to go in the Catoctins would be today? I was looking around the actual peak or bobs hill at 1741ft
Drive up to High Rock, 2K ft. Allows you to check out Ft. Richie and surrounding areas.

46 degrees when I left Thurmont.
35 with snow in the Catoctins on the way home from work. Non accumulating.
38 and rain on the other side in Smithsburg.
I bet they get 6"+ tomorrow at 1200ft +.
Buddy in college used to say, double it for the mountain. Jacks Mt would usually cover that spread when comparing to Emmitsburg for smaller events (3-6,4-8). Halloween storm years ago really illustrated the elevation impact.

One option is for me to get another jeep. I bought my last one in Nov '13 which was followed by a string of goat-level winters.
Early Feb/Mar 2014, FRD got upwards of 20” in one storm. Was living in Wormans with two college buddies. My Wrangler was perfect to keep my parking space free. Never shoveled the spot and no one tried to park there due to depth. Oh the good days!

Not sure what temp Frederick reached, but I thought it was tolerable. Certainly hot/humid, but it’s been a little worse at times this summer.
Don’t know either, but damn did the humidity suck.

Luckin' out so far. Another round incoming. Regional-wide rains are kinda uncommon this time of year...we just haven't even had enough hit/miss opps.
We’re lucking out on this second wave. Much needed rain to cool stuff down. AC had been out last few days and we hit 92* inside yesterday. Thankfully it’s slowly coming back

Productive downpour moving through. Obviously, it won't amount to much since it's quick moving, but might be a 0.25-0.5" type.
Congratulations! We seem to have been between both cells in Buckeystown/Bal Creek so it’s still fried down here. Garden is doing great, broccoli, squash and pumpkins.

Downsloping killed the rain from the west, what’s killing us now?
Yeah old Hogback and Furnace Mts really dried things up in Frederick Wednesday.
Today is just one of those days where the rain says, “yeah I’m not going north, I’m tired.”

This weather is awful. Thought we lived in Mid-Atlantic and not Deep South. Feels like we live in the Devil’s taint. How I know, I dunno

Pouring rain, lot of lightning and wind blowing up against the back of the house. This is the best rain we have had in about 3 weeks.
Same here, neighbor!

Well crap! Sitting down in VA at the horse show and the Emergency Alert tune comes over WAMU for that tornado warning. Freaked me out as they have the incorrect information of location. Said North of Ballenger Creek near Harry Grove Stadium. My house is just south of that and reception has been spotty all day down here. So radar would not load up. Called kid at home to see if she got an alert. She said no. Told her about the warning and she looked at radar to see that the warning is down near Urbana. Way to give a mama an anxiety incident only to find out she is fine.
Although looking West over the mountains down here it could get interesting.
I was out mowing (Buckeystown) in it. Torrential rain but no idea a tornado was just down the street.

Should we consider renaming the Mid-Atlantic forum to “Insatiable”?

Well, he is chronically hyperbolic among his other issues. Not sure why anyone bothers reading his crap.
It’s always nice to have some light reading material on the pot. Personally would rather have a video after hitting the pipe!

I like spring here. Yea, it can get dreary with easterlies at time but on the balance I find the weather near perfect most of the time. We get a lot of low humidity 60s-70s mixed in with foggy 50s. Warm humidity doesn't hit too hard until May.
My only complaint with my CO years was spring/mud season. Lasted 6-8 weeks. Spring in the rockies was so bad I used to leave the state during May.
Buddy who relocated from RI says the same thing re spring up north, mud season.
11/21-22/24 Little Something.. But first flakes for quite a few.. MAYBE
