Like I said in the NW thread, I don't recall ever seeing a request for so many UTV for a call that's not a brushfire.

    Flooding?

We know how that worked out for the Knicks and expecting the same results this year.   LGR

Well Knicks lost in 7 against Houston.  Let's hope they can overcome their championship drought. Would be insane if they both win this year!

Was insane. Nothing better than playoff basketball at the Garden.

    And playoff hockey!

Reminds me if 93/94 when Knicks and Rangers were winning!

After Irene FEMA finally came in and moved people out of the hardest hit areas. It's not as easy as it sounds. People are stubborn and don't want to leave. It's not just homes that are hit hard. The Pompton and Passaic rivers both impact highways and businesses. Rt 23 is now shutdown in both directions in Pequannock Township. If you're not familiar with the area you wouldn't know but this is the major artery that connects Rt 80/46 with I-287 and points North and West.

New milford, nj has this issue near the hackensack and reservoir.  Only a few people took buyout, those houses knocked down.  Others raised their houses but most stayed and still flood.

Do they ever think about damming up these rivers or is that a total no go? It's needed in NJ too

Damming isn't a solution.  Someone will end up getting flooded way worse.  The problem is over developement and paving over every inch of permiable ground.  These rivers rose and flooded long before we lived here and will do so after we're gone.  Is it worse now, no doubt. But there's no stopping mother nature.
