Cherry trees are blossoming in Central Park around the Great Lawn, probably fooled by the near spring weather

Fear that is not good for them. .

Feel like the Times or at minimum the Daily News should just have a front cover page of that for once. A blooming cherry tree in late December.

I was just thinking the same thing!  Amazing how little time we have spent below freezing these past two winters.  Felt like early spring walking through Manhattan today—and we’ve had so many days like this.

I'm posting because it's that bad. it is unfathomable to me that the coldest we can pull off the first week of january is 30 degrees at night-maybe. maybe, maybe it really is time to panic about climate change. this is surreal. Plants still haven't died in parts of Manhattan.

54F Beautiful. If you could lower the taxes it would be like living in the Carolinas. Still in shorts and a T.

I find it interesting that we’re not even in the warmest departures across the nation. I guess it could have been worse thus far.

Also of note, as I was flying over fly over country the past two days, There isn’t much snow anywhere… But if you’re going skiing in the Salt Lake City area Utah has been getting a good amount. That area and the eastern California are the only areas of snow cover observed

this weather, in the context of everything happening across the US( drought, tornados,) is really nothing to be nonchalant about.

The Anthropogenic warming signal is so strong now that it's showing up in overnight temperature minimums.

There must be something specific here,  short-term climactically, because it's been colder in Europe so far this winter. I'm wondering what this is

  5. Hi everyone,

Lurk all the time on here but have a compelling question... can someone explain what is causing the overnight lows to be so high for so long? I don't think I remember an October where it's taken so long to go into the 40s. Thanks!
