I'm shocked to hear so little from folks in NW Ohio. Police are closing the roads in the eastern portions of the area and conditions look horrible. As I said yesterday, don't worry folks it's going to come

Defiance, OH seeing really steady moderate snow since this morning thanks to a bit of a bump NW with the moderate snow placement. Hard to measure as wind is gusty and it's drifting considerably given the higher ratio stuff coming down now and the wide open spaces. Roads are terrible and many counties are level 2 likely to move to level 3s this afternoon especially along Rt 24 and E/S. I'm measuring and additional 4.75" so far today after the the 5.5" we had leading up to the overnight lull for a 2-day total of 10.25". If these rates continue through this evening, I'd say 2 day totals of 13-14" totals will be commonplace. Drifting, however, will be the bigger story around here. Snow is really blowing around and plows can't keep up on these E-W roads.

  2. Was home in South Boston for the blizzard and now in NW Ohio to visit family. Would be a record week of winter weather if we can pick up a foot+ in Defiance by Thursday evening.

Just got home from a drive from Ottawa Hills taking Rt 24 to Defiance. Was snowing in Ottawa Hills at 3:30 and then rain in Perrysburg. Moderate to heavy snow once we hit Napoleon and Defiance and going for the last 30 min. Accumulating quickly on roads and grass despite the rain . It's going to flip in the next 15 minutes for entire route 24 area if it hasn't already.

  3. Major lurker but wanted to throw some evidence up on the board of what's going on in Southie. Hard to imagine we haven't closed in on 20" based on my measurements but I'll concede it's almost impossible for me to find a reasonable place to measure at my place.

Vid is Southie on 8th Street looking North from the roof deck. Unreal intensity and probably not capturing the full extent of it over the last few hours. Been here since summer 2013 and this seems like the lowest daytime visibility I've witnessed here or otherwise.

  4. Just outside with the pup. His first real snow. Consistent 2-2.5"/hr rate over the last couple hours here in Southie. Added another inch in the last 30 min. 5.25" total. Flakes a little smaller but seemingly heavier/reduced vis. Temp has dropped a degree to 30 in the last half hour.
