Welcome to Chicago. Hope you like frequent disappointment
Thank you! Haha, yes I've had my fair share of disappointments with the coastal storms there. Have gotten numb to it at this point

The only time I've seen a map like this was for the Blizzard of 1888, except the 40 plus inch totals were then up in CT and upstate NY
I'm not sure any of the models were running 4DVAR back in 1888 but I could see the 00z suite back then showing 40inch totals.. jk jk jk

Back home. Freezing drizzle in Holbrook. I'll go with whatever ISP or the other Holbrook guys report as a snow total.
Didn't bother measuring either.. only interested in +6-inches this year it has been drizzling the past hour and a half so I'm sure that has compacted the amounts too by now
wasn't expecting much out here anyway but that burst of heavy snow with huge flakes was nice while it lasted and good to have the snowpack freshen up again..

Yea this is easily the heaviest so far this storm.. huge flakes

Tale of two cities out west tonight with Chicago getting buried with LES while Cincinnati, forecast to have 8-12", got mostly sleet this afternoon and just recently switched to snow.
The Chicago vids on twitter are just insane, so jealous of those LES

Laughable differences with the GFS from 06z to 12z today lol
Now showing potential ice storm for NYC east.. it's much better than what it was showing at 06z tho

It’s the snowiest part of the island. Once you head south of the LIE and east of the sagtikos amounts usually decrease
That much is true.. won't be surprised if that's the case again on Tuesday with the rain/snow being depicted to run right thru the Island in the morning

I always breathe sigh of relief when my measurements match ISP. 6.5” here.
10 minutes ago, Rjay said:Lol. You said 5.5" i measured ~6". It's all the same to me.
Yea every time there's a storm I always like to gauge how close I am just to see if I'm doing my measurements right.. guess I still have a few tenths to learn from the pros

Wow just saw ISP reported 6.4" at 7pm...
Hmmmmmmmm

That's about what I got.
Yea warm temps and poor snow growth at the start limited our potential.. but still a pretty good pack refresher!!

flurries winding down.. measured a final total of 5.5" here
I like these types of snow, dry powder and easy to clean now let's see how long it'll take for Crookhaven to plow our neighborhood
