A few surprises are in store for some.  Good luck figuring out who scores 10" when they expected 4"

He also needs to upgrade from those stupid red arrows. Makes my brain hurt.

The hype is already driving me mad in Ski Country.  The various associations like Ski Vermont, NH Tourism, etc and the individual ski resorts are already starting to talk about "foot and a half, two feet!" type stuff.  It's 5 days out.  There are big differences in Friday's light event, and if the models can't figure that out how the hell will they figure out Sunday?

I know its a holiday weekend for the ski areas but man this hype is going to get unreal.  I hate that part of me wishes something happens so those who take to social media early and PR departments learn not to promise people stuff 5 days out.

It's just business. They start early so people make plans to come up, and if they don't get 2 feet from the storm, they blame the wxmen but still make money. Most people have no idea how fickle the models are, especially 5 days out. But it's good for business. Really can't blame them I guess.

Glad you scored man. You guys have been screwed many times while others got hammered. It all equaks out

I honestly don't look at as getting screwed. I just think of how many things have to go right for *anyone* to get snow, and when I get some it makes me very happy.

I grew up in Phoenix AZ so for me all snow is special. I'll take a 6-10er any day over the one-long-sunny-day I grew up in.

Yeah it was all about the midlevels. Same theme (different setup though) in march 2013 with the surface low way east but the midlevels were throwing forcing wayyy west into SNE.

He has some great graphics on his Twitter. I follow him and check in there often because he really is a true wx weenie. Always worth a look, especially for the long range.

  5. Lightening up here as that band heads west. Gusts are picking up and temp down to 27.3.

Super light fluffy snow on top of an inch or two of slush. All my measurements were either 10, 11, or 12", so let's say 11" in N RI so far.

And the power is holding on after being restored at 10 am. It's all fun and games until the power goes out.

It's been like 200 yard visibilty for about 2 hours now. Just blasting. Impossible to say how much on the ground, but Brett just said about 7"....it's all of that. If it stays like this for another hour we'll be close to 10 here

200 yards? Are you sure it's that much? 2 football fields? My vis is like from the endzone to the 30yd line. 100 feet and then a wall of white.

N RI is getting crushed...and adjacent SE MA like near our butterfish poster....gotta be near 10" in those spots now. Our poster up in Mendon was at 9" in extreme SE ORH county where they've been persistently under good banding.

Yeah Mendon is not far from me and I think my estimate of 5-6 was way too low. I am going out to measure now. My vis is literally 100 feet.

Word is you have the power to take James off of the weenie list so he can post again during this time of blizzardly celebration. He promises to be a good boy, and he states categorically that he has changed his ways. If you can find it in your heart, please have mercy on our brother. In the name of the SnowGod, we pray.
