Are you sure about that? I'm all for fall coming early, but according to the NSIDC current arctic ice cover is quite a bit lower than the 80s, in fact almost 2 million square kilometers lower than even the lowest extent year on this date in the 80s...

Local news station here in Augusta projecting .3" here through Saturday morning. Not sure what model they use but it looked like Augusta is on the southeastern fringe of the frozen precip band.
