    Ok, 58 posts.

I'm fairly certain you said "learn to READ a room".  I've been here for quite a while reading.  What does post count matter?  It certainly doesn't appear that your 38K posts have put you on top of the heap.

Actually, it's the 3rd time tonight.

And he's constantly been posting junk, even before tonight.  Learn to read a room before you lecture.

    But yeah, I'm good.

His last comment was valid but your panties were already in a wad.  I'm well read.  There's no shortage of junk in this subforum.  Pick and choose as you like.  Enjoy the snow.

In addition to the consensus you said that was against the CMC (which I guess is good now?), now the UKMET is bad?  Tell us why it can likely be thrown out, in your expert opinion.

Why such a passive aggressive approach to this guy for the second time tonight?  The UKMET is further south and lower in totals than most models.  I'm sure you know this.  Can't people post their opinions in this thread without a douchy comment?  Practically half of the posts in this thread are about IMBY.  Seems like the regulars get away with this.....regularly, without any gruff.  Lighten up dude.  Enjoy the snow.

  4. Based on current trends (and NWS forecasts), I think you're good.
In Raleigh and Richmond, precip isn't expected to start until after 6pm. Raleigh looks to be liquid when it starts. Richmond might be frozen, but if you leave at 130pm, you should get there before being overly concerned about it.
Sat night (especially overnight) in Richmond might be a different story..

Thanks RDUG! Made it home a half hour before it started snowing (~3:30). Snowing like heck now. Hope y’all get the good stuff and avoid the ice. I think I’ll see more ice than snow tonight and tomorrow being 15 miles south of the city. Good luck!!

  5. Hey folks.  I'll try here first so I don't mess up your storm thread.  I was wondering if someone could help me out with timing on this.  I have to drive from Raleigh back to Richmond tomorrow, leaving Raleigh around 1:30 pm.  Any thoughts on conditions?

Euro has been consistent and was also for 12/9 but not til 72 hours out for that one. FV3 and then the short range models handled 12/9 well also. Once short range came into range.

I did edit my post with a HUGE caveat :P.  I let my love of deep snow cloud my judgement.

  7. Eh.  Maybe I just don't want to believe it.  The models will bounce around a few more times before the final result is in.  Seems the models are handling the system in different ways.  Who knows which one is correct.

ETA:  I have ZERO weather background.  This is just what I gather from reading between the lines in the storm thread.

I JUST got home at 8, 1.5 hours for a normal 10 minute drive. This is just INCREDIBLE! I have 20.5 inches of snow on the day, 20 on the snowboard from 7 am (6:30)reading. It is STILL snowing but letting up. This is an epic fail on NWS, my forecast was 3-5 at 5, upped to 6-10 just before I left for work.

    Wow!  Excellent!!

I was hearing pings on the window. Looks like rimmed snow at least.  A lull in the action now.

Fairly sure the lull isnt a lull. That’s all she wrote!  Great ride and it’ll be fun tomorrow with the kids. Looking forward to waking up in the morning to a foot of snow.

1.9 inch per hour rates right now....

Yep. Pouring for the last couple hours. Wind is howling. Snowing sideways. Incredible. I’m guessing better than 10” when this is done
