Ended up being a mediocre event here in Austin. Woke up with a bit less than 1/8 inch of ice on the cars and surfaces and then it sleeted for 2 or so hours. Seems that Houston ended up faring better because they got 2 days off of school/work. Still can't complain because this is our 4th wintry mix event of the year and if there's no severe then at least we have something to track.

Models have had DFW shafted for a while. Current radar trends are showing nice returns for your metroplex but I'm still thinking Austin brings in higher totals tonight to further solidify the wintery precip win for the winter season. Strange turn of events that's for sure..

AISD and UT were the last ones to pull the closure trigger down here. It'll be a nice day off and hopefully we get enough mix to make it worth it

Nice downpours of rain in SSW Austin right now. This will help set the stage for the city shutdown which is already confirmed for tomorrow. Looking forward to tracking the sleet/snow amounts assuming they don't all occur before normal wake up hours. 

In Austin we had 55 hours of below freezing temps end earlier today but we are back in the 20s tonight. A freezing drizzle/trace snow-sleet event last night helped bring the city to its knees as ice always does. Pretty neat to have 3 separate winter weather advisories in 4 weeks time but I'm ready for warmth again.

Roger that in SSW Austin as well. Flakes are getting large and quite impressive for a second snow event in Austin in a single month's time. Wasn't sure if the snowband would make it this far down to us but hell yeah! 

Pretty rare early season snow event occurring in Austin this evening. Had a rain/sleet mix start around 21z and slowly transition to constant snowfall around 23z with a nice band still passing through the city at this time. Too bad the streets are still too warm for accumulation or this could be a lot more fun. Heaviest snow I have seen here since 2011 either way.

Levi's site works very well and likely due to to the lack of including all these details which will confuse the average tropical onlooker.
