NNE slowly approaching winter

Yeah, I saw that. GYX has increased snow chances here from 20% yesterday to 40% currently, which buoys my hopes. Radar looks good upstream. Wind is ripping pretty good w/ gusts approaching 30 at SFM. Jay in Bridgton probably would've seen snow if he wasn't back in Mass.

Point and click has me at 50% chance, Looks like i could catch a piece if it stays together, Little concerend with temps though as i am at 36.2F, Yeah jay is missing out being back in BOS....

Visibilities at ASOS stations with these snow squalls:

BTV reported 1/8th of a mile.

MPV reported 1/4th of a mile.

MVL reported 1/4th of a mile.

Its hard to get ASOS to report under 1/4 mile and BTV is a manned station so they might have augmented to get that 1/8th. I bet both MPV and MVL got below 1/4 miles too... but the ASOS has a hard time grasping that.

Downslope is really drying it out though. RH is only 48%. Going to need things to moisten up. Should happen as the trough comes through. Looks like less then an inch.

Seeing a few flakes now. Radar looks halfway decent, maybe squeeze out a couple tenths of accum.

Nice special weather statement from ekster........

...SHORT-LIVED SNOW SQUALLS TO DROP VISIBILITIES TO NEAR ZERO AND

CREATE VERY SLIPPERY TRAVEL...

A COLD FRONT PUSHING ACROSS NEW ENGLAND THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON IS

ACCOMPANIED BY VERY HEAVY SNOW SQUALLS. EVEN THOUGH THESE SQUALLS

ONLY LAST 10 TO 30 MINUTES AT ANY GIVEN LOCATION...THEY DROP

VISIBILITIES TO NEAR ZERO IN HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WITH

WINDS GUSTING UP TO 35 MPH. IN ADDITION...ROADS BECOME ICY ALMOST

IMMEDIATELY AT LOCATIONS THAT ARE ABOVE FREEZING BEFORE THE

SQUALLS ARRIVE.

AS OF 230 PM...THE LINE OF SQUALLS EXTENDED FROM NEAR COBURN GORE

MAINE SOUTHWARD TO NEAR PIERMONT NEW HAMPSHIRE. THESE SQUALLS ARE

MOVING EASTWARD AT AROUND 35 MPH AND WILL AFFECT MUCH OF WESTERN

AND CENTRAL MAINE THROUGH 5 PM. THE SQUALLS SHOULD WEAKEN BEFORE

REACHING THE COAST...BUT SOME LOCALLY HEAVY SNOW COULD EVEN OCCUR

THERE...MAINLY NORTH OF PORTLAND...BY 5 PM.

TRAVELERS ARE ADVISED THAT DRAMATIC CHANGES IN DRIVING CONDITIONS

ARE EXPECTED DURING THIS TIME. ANYWHERE FROM ONE HALF INCH TO TWO

INCHES OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THESE SQUALLS.

Second squall did hit here and was heavier than the first. I went to the store in between just so that I'd get to be "out in it". Visibility was a couple of hundred yards and the wind was ripping. +SN and winds gusting to 30 are a sweet combination. I tried to take some action photos from the driver's seat but they're pretty blurry. Anyway, not a lot of accum ... I'd guess about 0.3". Nice day.
