Des Moines got 7-8" a few weeks ago when there wasn't even an advisory in effect, so it'd be pretty funny if that happened again.  No headlines out there as of yet.

As Hawkeye pointed out in another thread 8-9" fell from this in a narrow stripe in western IA, and 5-6" fell as far east as near Waterloo.

Compacting with these late season snows is an absolute given, as is having less on the roads than the grass. But the 12.1 does seem a bit high. Depth at 7pm yesterday was already 6"

We had sun and 40s all day yesterday, plus some sun and warmth in the afternoon after the storm ended at Madison. Madison reached 44 after the clouds moved off. This stuff started to melt/evaporate basically as soon as the storm was over.

We had that recently with approximately 12" of snow that completely melted off the driveway by evening.  Warm ground and the right daytime conditions can make an amazing amount of snow disappear in a day.

EDIT: DTW apparently gusted to 67 MPH earlier.

I arrived at work right when that gust hit, it was... windy.
