Was just on our city website, it mentions the coldest temperature recorded for the city of Nashua, NH was -29F in 1957,  I assume no wind chill ? Wow

2/16/1943 nashua coop had -35°. That’s the coldest S NH morning on record for most sites

PWM reached -39 that day, coldest ever by 13° except for the -31 at 11:59 PM on the 15th.  Might be the coldest coastal temp in the US until one gets north of the Aleutian Peninsula.

Numbers for that ridiculous cold snap:

2/14    32    -2   0.59   4.0   10.8 BN
2/15     -2  -31     T       T     42.6 BN
2/16      7  -39     0       0     42.3 BN
2/17    19   -19     T       T     26.5 BN

Imagine a -26 day feeling mild.

That's impressive. Makes you wonder how one of the sites up north like First Lake hasn't popped off a -50F or lower with good rad conditions. Several lows in the -40s at the coop.

Seems like that 1943 crisper was centered on CNE.  Coldest I found for Maine was Scopan at -44.  That's at the dam of the same-named lake about 20 miles west from PQI.  1st CT lake reached -41.  Their all-time low, POR from Jan 1, 1918, is -45 on Feb 1, 1920.  If they had started a week earlier to capture 12/30/1917, maybe that would be the lowest.

You may get a quick one. Looks like they fade as they head SE. A little too dry.

If flow was more SW off the ocean we’d probably have a derecho.

Yeah if we could have turned the flow (like 925-850) more like 230-250, we could’ve had some really intense stuff because LL moisture is the main limiting factor in these. The other WINDEX checklist items are present.

Bummer that could be fun. A few years ago both Brian and I got hit by what I thought was a squall but it sort of was a streamer. Very rare, he got 7 inches. I got about five. I don’t know if the air behind the front will be connected to any water source.
