Central PA Winter 2022/2023

I remember. My records show that I received 5.75" of rain. Unlike Lee when I was literally in the bullseye, with Eloise the heaviest was west of me in Lanco.
Im surprised how similar they were.

Heres all pa reporting stations for both eloise and lee made a pivot table on each for easier viewing

Interesting signal on the 3 major ensembles through the end of their 15 or 16 day runs.

I look at these snow maps every day to just monitor the trends. I have not seen this look at any point this season!

The southern extent of the “blue” on the snow maps on each of the 3 major ensembles reaches well to the south in VA and into northern NC on the Canadian.

The amounts over CTP are not prolific, but I think it’s a great signal seeing the “blue” so far south. Most days this season, the blue has not made it to the MD line & the better looks maybe had the blue getting to near DC.
Again, seeing the blue this far south is a great signal to me that we are in the game for the next 2 weeks or so.

Temps look slightly better for Tamaqua. Whatever accumulates should at least stick around and not be washed away by rain and warming temps as Thursday looks to be cold...

A chance of snow and freezing rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Wednesday
A chance of rain, snow, and freezing rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Wednesday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 20.
Thursday

Your post sounds like commentary from the mid 80's arcade game called Punch Out.  I wasted a lot of $$$ at the Carlisle MJ Mall on it.

I think the clouds are due to the heavy Pacific influence this winter.  When you have that Canadian arctic air (which we've barely had) it is associated with high pressure which equals less clouds.

I can remember totally sunny days in January but I also remember them as cold also.

MJS alluded to this the other day, but MDT now stands at a 39.7 degree average for January.  A Canderson fav 8.8 AN. After today there are 3 days forecast where MDT may get near or up to 50 and stay above or near freezing at night so tying or beating the number two of 39.8 in 1950 is still in play.  January 31 may save it from happening though.  MDT has only averaged 39 or over, in Jan, 3 times since records have been kept.   One would have to be at least 73 to have been alive during the last one.

MU responds:

A few light #snow showers are moving across northern parts of the Lower Susquehanna Valley this morning, & a quick coating is possible on non-paved surfaces. Otherwise, today will just be mostly cloudy & seasonably chilly (highs near 40°F) with a 10-15 mph westerly breeze.

I was surprised to see the highs on the meso's for Sat-Mon.   RGEM has Mid 50's for the LSV on Mon.   That is why I looked at the MDT numbers and thought #2 may still be in play.   Might as well get something to remember this torch by.

CTP has me near 50 for that time period. I'd imagine any if any of those days feature more sun that forecast, 50 should be a lock.

Today will be a near normal day today with highs in the mid to upper 30's. The weekend looks mostly cloudy with a slight chance of some showers on Sunday night (Go Birds!) It looks like we will start off February with below normal temperatures and maybe a couple shots at some snow....but the way this season has gone I would not hold my breath for snow!
The record high for today is 71 degrees from 1916. Our record low is 2 below zero from 1987. Daily precipitation record is 1.46" from 1990. The daily snow mark is the 6.5" that fell today in 1941.
