I am in a great location though. Yes my elevation is lower. But I am between two big elevation changes to my west and east, luckily not much further south.

Wait-you’re shadowed my mtns on both sides?  That doesn’t sound ideal for snow amounts.   Kevin laid it out but good luck anyway!

I’ve been thru that area many times for work and kids sports over the years. After a screamer they often have 3-4” of total frozen  crust . But it’s a bad spot in winter storms .. particularly coastals . He’s bounded by Talcott Mtn on one side and NW hills on other . Right along Farmington River .. in thst valley

Must be your first time on here.  No one on any of the forums back to WWBB and EUSWX have ever discussed what would need to happen to get higher winds, more rainfall, more damage, more ice, more snow, hotter maxes, colder mins or any number of more extreme outcomes.

Hey Neighbor! My shop is in Simsbury,  live in Westfield.  Simsbury us an interesting area. I've seen many times over the years where we can have fairly significant snow vs just over the ridge in Bloomfield.

Many times Simsbury is a better snow spot than you'd expect given the elevation. There's something about the ridge just southeast of town that seems to be the difference between downtown Hartford weather and more of the northwest hills. Also like you said...great CAD spot!

Who averages more snow?? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm 

Literally one of the snowiest portions of the state. Yes, I could be in a higher elevation. But this is one of nicest towns to commute to Hartford area from imo. The little bit of snow sacrifice is worth the civilization. I guess I'm not a category four weenie.

I've seen that map before and is probably done by a 12 year old that was coloring in spaces.. not even close to being right
