It looks like a cat 4 to me. Not perfect eyewall, not in the 920s or lower, good but not great IR, and at best borderline recon obs before the planes left. 
 

weenies want it to be a 5 because they have a parasocial relationship with the hurricane.

I saw on the main thread links to the following topo map website with remarks like, "Maybe Cape Coral will be ok, they're shown at 14 feet elevation."  Too bad that topo map is bullcrap, at least for that area.

My father-in-law moved to Port Charlotte in 2012 and he bought into "hurricanes never hit this part of Florida... except for Charlie. But that didn't flood the harbor." We've been trying to prepare him for this for a decade to no avail. He stayed like so many other Fox-news watching, government/expert-hating uncles and grandparents in the area, it seems.
