Really curious to know what’s going on in Tampa Bay Area right now. Have to imagine some severe coastal flooding all along the e south sections of the bay with the persistent northerly fetch.

Significant power outages in Clearwater/St. Pete area. Around 200k so far.

My guess is most of Tampa Bay is under water, either from tidal flooding, or from tremendous rainfall. All that rain has no where to go, leaving streets flooded, even away from the shore.

Any NOAA link with precipitation totals from stations available?
Thanks.

Ian took a wobble East on radar that should help keep the strongest winds away from the coastal areas North of Port Charlotte  (Sarasota and places North of it). Tampa Bay sure dodged a bullet with Ian

This is not necessarily important for GA/SC yet, but the farther eastward it goes, the faster it gets back over water and the more time it would have over water before the next landfall.

18z GFS has Ian back over water by 0z on Friday. Going to be a long night tonight, in to tomorrow for central, northern Florida in terms of rain and wind as Ian moves across. South east Florida should start to see improving conditions overnight tonight.

A bit east of Orlando here. We’ve had rain nearly non-stop since around 10 last night, very heavy in the last two hours. Wind gusts are infrequent but we’ve had enough to bring a few branches down.

Not surprisingly, levels are running below there as well...Though a bit less than other sites in the bay area.

The generally NE wind has been running nearly parallel to the length of the bay blowing out. This isn't really a situation where the water is going to stack up or has nowhere to go, as it is just existing into the Gulf.

Other states will be sending down staff soon as well.

Power will be out for weeks or longer in some spots.  Damage will be over a very wide area with major infrastructure destroyed in spots.  Suspect some barrier islands will be uninhabitable for a while.
