No idea how the Periwinkle & Casa Ybel West feed on Sanibel is still up, but the water is halfway up the street signs and still seemingly pounding in.

Large areas of Cape Coral are just north of this too. Not a good look. That water is halfway up that electrical box that had the door open(P and CY East).

The surgecam 5 on the SevereStudios YT page is on and amazing. It's on the second story of a resort on the beach on Sanibel. Should be able to see the eye on it soon. I wonder if we will be able to see the stadium effect?

Good news is Ian's CDO is rapidly warming....if Ian can just NOT do that bursting thing that it does perhaps we can give SW FL some kind of better news.

It can be a 2 egdged sword. Energy is neither created nor destroyed, so when a storm begins to weakened (especially if rapid), the energy from that storm has to go somewhere. In many cases it actually gives short term elevation in wind as the energy being released allows for a short term energy burst. In other words, the energy being released is partially focused through wind, which in turn creates a brief period of elevated winds because more energy than otherwise would be is being released.

This St James City home station is either in the eye or the anemometer crapped the bed.

Looks like the equipment outside is gone as we're still getting pressure readings from the console inside.

That would mean that it's currently near low tide, a tiny blessing within a horrible storm.  7 hours later than that pic, Naples should be getting sub-hurricane strength winds, though it would be backside, thus blowing in from the Gulf.

Low tide was midnight, hightide is 6 pm, we're closer to hightide than lowtide.

The difference here isn't much though, like a foot and a half
