I hearing reports of flooding uptown too. There was flooding from the early morning storms already before this round. I-95 from north of Newark to CT been getting it today. Meanwhile haven't seen a drop in Lower Manhattan.

Yday I was marveling at how dry and brown it was looking.

NYC DOT traffic cam on the Major Deegan Expy at 179 St showing a vehicle stuck in high water under the overpass. NYPD ESU on scene making the rescue. https://webcams.nyctmc.org/google_popup.php?cid=1203

This is what has been happening so far, the storms further to the south and west have been dying out as they move northeast at least up to this point. Have to see how things transpire as we move into the late afternoon/evening.

Most of the models had activity confined to the N&W of I-95 which is why the slight risk more or less parallels the NJ TPK. Plenty of SBCAPE areawide which is probably why they issued a watch further South but most of the significant wind shear is focused near the warm front which is anchored over Southern NY.

Not so much due to instability issues as it is the front sort of washes/slows/semi stalls as the surface low outruns it over NRN New England so even Queens/W Nassau may not see much...might see a nasty looking line in NJ and it just will crap out as it goes east.

Nope. City east rocked again

It's all north of the LIE. South shore been dry as a bone. The north shore always gets rocked. It rained very lightly here 3 times, added up to pretty much nothing.

Pretty typical for July. Come August/September, the south shore catches up. Severe storm on the north shore now.

Will be interesting to see some of totals come tomorrow morning.  Especially over parts of Sussex County NJ and NE NJ and parts of L.I.   There were parts of Sussex County that had 2-3" totals as of 8:00 this morning and from the looks of radar some of the same areas have been soaked a few times since then.  NE NJ and parts of L.I. have also been hit several times with torrential downpours.  Worst of it so far has gone around my location.  Had .44" period ending 8:00 this morning and another .60" since then.  That on top of the .25" Sunday morning.  Just enough but not too much.   All going to good use instead of rapid runoff.  Short soakings.

I'm sure the average precipitation on the north shore in July is way more than the average on the south shore, though that's just a guess based off years of watching the weather. Marine stabilization and sea breeze boundaries always keep the action to the north of us this time of year.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some places reach 6+ inches when all is said and done. Radar storm total accum. Already has up to 5” in spots
