BDCF continues its movement to the west especially along the CT shoreline with temps in the mid to upper 60s as far west as the Branford area.  Meanwhile it seems like it is getting hung up some near the Riverhead area.  Temps along the north shore from about PJ almost to Mattituck are still in the upper 80s and low 90s.  You don’t see that type of distribution too often.

Possibly interaction with the SBF is holding it’s progress over the island?

You can actually see how the forks and Peconic Bay are interacting with the front. Looks like Riverhead will cross both the sea breeze and back door front at once. Looks like the front still won't be to the city for a few more hours. It's slowed down some. The sea breeze will be through most of LI before the backdoor. Sea breeze is just about up to Jericho Turnpike. NW then S then E winds today.

The SBF provided some relief, but we need the BDCF to squeeze out the real heat

Interesting look to that radar with the BDCF moving west through the twin forks and the SB front roughly along Sunrise and the Southern State.  Note the inverted Z appearance with the BDCF making faster progress along the Southern CT shoreline and it being held back some as it tries to move into interior SE CT.  A lot of interesting mesoscale stuff going on in the local area today.

Seems like we can do it early and late before the predominant high humidity pattern sets in for the heart of the summer. Almost monsoon like

Yeah, EWR got the June all-time high temperature record of 103° last summer before the historic rains arrived.
