Nice storm, reasonably well forecast by the NWS with 1-3" amounts for most of SEPA/SNJ (S of 276/195) and 2-4" amounts for most of PA/NJ N of that line up to 78 (except only 1-2" at the coast) and 3-6" amounts for NWNJ and the Lehigh Valley (which were definitely well under-forecast). NYC/NENJ got 2-3" for the most part and LI got 3-5" (also under-forecast). 3.5" brings our seasonal total up to 18.75". His school is closed. Smithtown seasonal total is 33.1" Interesting to note that the Smithtown spotter reporting 5.8" on the OKX PNS is not me. He/she is on the south side of town and sometimes reports some creative numbers on windy storms (e.g., about 50% more than I had in the big January storm). I remember rooting hard for HRRR to be correct about getting several inches up here when most other models were showing little or saying you'd have to go south of the NYC area get more than an inch or so. It was impressive how HRRR picked up on the idea of northern areas getting several inches at 48 hours out and locked into that solution over the 2 days leading up to the event. That's 13.2:1 Ratios were lower early in the event (and we might have lost a couple of hundredths to melting) and quite high during that nice finale that piled up during the game last night.
