What's your take on this December?

I think that we will have some periods of cold and some warm ups.

The MJO is going through phase 6 this week and should go into phase 7 by the end of next week. Phase 6 is warm, but phase 7 is cold.
The EPO will also be a factor. When it goes negative, the cold air in Western Canada will have a chance to be delivered to the east.

We should have some Winter Storm chances once the current northern stream dominated pattern gets reshuffled.

Quiet in here today...

Seeeeeeeeeeeeee them tumbling down.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeedging their love to the ground.

Lonely but free I'll be found.

Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.

In the winter time
When all the leaves are brown
And the wind blows (So chill)
And the birds
Have all flown
For the summer

All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey...

From Millersville:

the overall pattern favors low odds of measurable snow in LanCo. through at least Dec. 15. We'll see some more big temp. swings, but the # of "mild" days will likely be greater than the # of "cold" ones.. with monthly temps. ending up at least 1-3° above normal..

At least they said mild and not balmy.

I am trying to be more reigned in with my use of temperature mood adjectives.

You’re right, it’s better to use absolute adjectives like “coast-to-coast”, rather than subjective ones, to describe the ridge that exists late in the GFS run.

Yea,  things like I used the other day, though as a verb, when I mentioned "evacuation" of cold in the lower 48.
