Still think below normal precip and slightly above avg temps for this winter. Below normal snowfall for our area. Another 3-4 week window of thread worthy winter weather will present itself before this April. Let the  season of medium to long range model scanning/hoping continue.

Exactly why I moved to the Northland years ago. Not always huge storms, but snow is happening every few days, including last night.

Gaylord with 18" on the board already, and well ahead of normal. More sig SN very likely Sun night/Monday.

It’s been a snowy few weeks up here in northern lower in places. We had our 3rd or maybe it was our 4th grass covering snow this morning. It mostly melts during the day but that’s normal for early November snows for the most part in these parts.

From one extreme to another in the precip department again this month.  Almost 7" of rain in October, and so far this month only 0.30" with little on the horizon lol.  Good chance we finish Nov with under a half inch of precip.

Seems to be the problem across the country. Mt. Bachelor ski area in Oregon closed their mountain bike trails early in September / October because of heavy early season snow, but the faucet shut off and they just postponed ski opening day. Beaver Creek ski area (down the road from Vail in Colorado) also just announced delayed opening day, had some nice early snow but now dry and they haven’t been able to make enough to cover their base area yet. I know two random anecdotal ski area openings does not a pattern make, but it does indeed seem the feast or famine undulations are pretty continental this time around.

It was a good weekend to finish up yard work.  The neighbor's oak tree dumped a bunch more leaves Fri/Sat, so I raked them and bagged them.  I use most to protect some plants and then mulch up the rest for the compost.  I mowed for the last time Saturday.  I was really just trying to run out the little bit of gas in the tank, but it actually made a difference so the lawn has still been growing over the last couple weeks.

I wanted to hit my yard one more time, but the weather hasn't cooperated. Now it's to the point where it can just stay shaggy all winter.

It almost seemed as if the grass was trying to make up for lost time after not growing for a month plus during the summer/early fall.

Had 45-50mph wind gusts yesterday afternoon, and that took care of any leaves that were left on trees other than oaks and sycamores.

Winds have died down quite a bit, still a little breezy with temps around 20 here at midday. Temps returning to the low 40's starting tomorrow for a couple days as low pressure makes its way into the area. Then back to cold blustery conditions for T-Day.

My house is 100+ years old, and even with fiberglass insulation, when the wind blows, my house "breathes" quite well. "Shiver me timbers" :)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. :)

Cold weather today in the Northland. High's will be around the mid teens to lower 20's. This will be a top 10 day (dense ranked) for a few stations. Last time we had a rather cold T-day was 2014, with highs running in the single digits to low teens near the lake. It was also a bitter a.m. with lows below zero. Near record to record lows that day, with top 5 low max temps. 2013, and 2005 were at the same levels of high/low temps as today.
